Teachers of the Craft - YOUR thoughts !

We have finished compiling the "Quest for Unity" surveys and many of the results are quite surprising... Starting this week we will begin feeding the results back to the community. We start with a general profile of those polled and due to its timeliness.... Your thoughts on Teaches of the Craft.

Modern Witchcraft/Paganism is currently defining itself, its ethical standards, its direction and its future. We offer the results of this survey to anyone in the craft to do what ever you please with them. Look at them, think about them and get those wheels turning on our growth and future development.

Our Unity Survey Index contains, the first round of results, your essay thoughts and all the details that went into the surveys themselves. Look here for new results as they are posted.
About the "Quest for Unity" Surveys: Kindly note that this is a mere snapshot of the community and with a total of 4, 312 submissions to the five separate surveys, an arguably small cross section of thoughts and opinions. As far as we know the WV Quest for Unity surveys are the only surveys of this size currently available. The data from "Quest for Unity" surveys was captured online here at the Witches' Voice from 8/1-10/31-97 and via our survey forms as well as some email and snail mail submissions.

Technical Note: The Witches' Voice used this first round of 5 surveys to develop the database/cgi technology in order to create quicker surveys for the future.

Also new this week...

Witchcraft 101 Part II... The Beginning Practice Phase

Chances are pretty good that you have already "dabbled' a bit with some of the techniques of ritual work. Even if you have only begun this in your mind, you are beginning to feel the stirrings of a desire to actually DO the workings that up until this point you have only been reading or hearing about. Where do you "begin"?

New last week...

Teachers of the Craft Part II... Minors & The Craft

There is much concern - and rightfully so! - about the legal issues surrounding the acceptance of minor students into a Craft training or teaching program. Here are some points to ponder as aids to both teachers and the minor students who may wish to study Witchcraft. Laws do indeed exist that protect the parent-child relationship from the undue influence of outside parties.

A cauldron of NEWS over at Wren's Nest... Wren has spent a great deal of time researching current news events that may be of interest or concern to Witches, Wiccans and Pagans. This page will be a quick and convenient way for TWV to keep you updated on the latest news, commentaries and ideas that may affect our communities.

Updated just about every single day.. Updates from Wren with more positive Samhain Press bytes, an article on school prayer in Alabama, some news about "Blessed Be and Meet Me in DC" and some submissions from a few Witch friends.

Bookmark Wren's Nest on the Web for the latest in news related to the modern Witchcraft community.

A Global directory of Witches, Events and Shops

Every Contact that is listed on these pages is verified on a monthly basis via a WitchVox global emailing. The Kindred Arts Calendar is a unique collaboration of photographs by Sam Laundon, digitally montaged with sculpted clay figures by Jill Solomon. Jill's sculptures were inspired by ancient bird-goddess images. Combined with Sam's provocative environments, they seem to forge a mystical link between our distant past, the present and future. You're bound to have an interesting and magickal year with this highly unusual wall calendar to guide you through it!
The images in the Kindred Arts 1998 Calendar seem to strike a cord within people that is connected to something ancient and mysterious. Most anyone that has any kind of spiritual affinity relates them to their own concepts of spirit and higher consciousness.

A few of the comments we've heard:

"I can feel a special energy, a healing energy, coming through...I Love it!...It's really beautiful!...I'm so moved by this work that I'm having trouble finding the words to express how I feel...One is not enough, we have to share this with friends."

"The monthly images on this beautiful calendar evoke a spiritual presence and a connection with god and goddess. I recommend this colorful delight to all who desire a visual closeness to Spirit!" - Richard Fuller (Senior Editor - Metaphysical Review)

Givers, Takers and the Pagan Web
Part II - "Look and Feel" & The Looters...

In this version of my randomly penned "Notes from the WebMaster" I would like to address two issues of grave concern; Presenting someone else's work as your own (the lameness of subtractive webweaving) and Bandwidth Stealing. Theft is never a pretty sight, but from our own "brothers and sisters" of the Craft? "So NOT it be".

A must read... Creativity and the Pagan Web a Guest Rant by Jorah.

How IS the Witches' Voice doing? Thanks to recent sponsorships we are still alive and on the net. Our current balance is on the happy side of zero (around $380.00). Do note that 100% of all sponsorship donations go directly to serving the Wiccan community via this website, through legal and financial assistance and mailings to schools and local officials. Wren, myself and the rest of the staff take zero financial compensation for the work we do here. We can only do this with YOUR support. If you enjoy this website, like what we do, believe in what we do or want to help your brothers and sisters of the craft, become a sponsor of the Witches' Voice. If you are too poor to help, we do understand, do know that even a book of stamps can help. For more info surf to our sponsorship page and find out how you can become an official Sponsor of the Witches' Voice. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. This just in from our friend Steve Paine in the UK: (10/31/97): The BBC programme that I mentioned to you earlier this year is now complete, I don't know if you can find some space for this on your website, but it is called 'Pagan's Progress' It covers Witchcraft, Druidism, OPdinism and Shamanism. It covers a lot of ground for a fifty minute Documentary but it has been done very well and very sympathetically and I feel deserves the support of the Pagan communities. I believe that it will be shown eventually on the Discovery Channel, but I also understand that some BBC programmes can be received via Satellite/Cable feeds in certain parts of the US and Canada. The UK broadcast is due on the 30th of November 1997 at 10pm GMT. - Steve Paine
