Witchcraft 101 Part III...
The Neo - Pagan Paths that we are discussing - including Wicca and Witchcraft - are called "Earth - based" religions. The rituals and practices follow the seasonal changes of the Earth. Some Paths use the eight holidays of the Wiccan Wheel of Life; some adhere to the more traditional Four Fire Festivals calendar. Some groups have come up with their own cycles according to their belief systems. What calendar will you use?
When you have decided which Holiday calendar that you want to incorporate into your life - lesson, read all that you can about it. Take one Holiday at a time. Look for resources, descriptions and Myths about each Holiday. Think upon each one as both a special event and as a "marker" for the year. Click HERE for Witchcraft 101 Part III.

| The Next Holiday of the Witch... |
(On or about December 22)
Yule is the time of greatest darkness and the longest night of the year. The Winter Solstice had been associated with the birth of a "Divine King" long before the rise of Christianity. Since the Sun is considered to represent the Male Divinity in many Pagan Traditions, this time is celebrated as the "return of the Sun God" where He is reborn of the Goddess. To celebrate Yule '97, we kick things off with a wonderful piece by Peg Aloi entitiled "You call it Christmas, We call it Yule"

Teachers (Part IV)... Teachers and Magickal Ethics
Did Mom and Dad crow at the dinner table over some "deal" they put over on someone else? Did they welcome new neighbors with a plate of cookies? Did your folks tell someone that they just LOVED that gift...and then threw it away after the giver had left? Did they allow you to choose your own friends? Did your parents break promises that they had made with you? Did they choose to go without something so that you could have that spiffy new pair of sneakers? Did you see them struggle with an ethical decision? How did these or other incidents at home make you feel? Did you agree with the ethical choices that your parents made then? How do you feel about their decisions and actions now?

The images in the Kindred Arts 1998 Calendar seem to strike a cord within people that is connected to something ancient and mysterious. Most anyone that has any kind of spiritual affinity relates them to their own concepts of spirit and higher consciousness.

The Kindred Arts Calendar is a unique collaboration of photographs by Sam Laundon, digitally montaged with sculpted clay figures by Jill Solomon. Jill's sculptures were inspired by ancient bird-goddess images. Combined with Sam's provocative environments, they seem to forge a mystical link between our distant past, the present and future. You're bound to have an interesting and magickal year with this highly unusual wall calendar to guide you through it!
A few of the comments we've heard:
"I can feel a special energy, a healing energy, coming through...I Love it!...It's really beautiful!...I'm so moved by this work that I'm having trouble finding the words to express how I feel...One is not enough, we have to share this with friends."
"The monthly images on this beautiful calendar evoke a spiritual presence and a connection with god and goddess. I recommend this colorful delight to all who desire a visual closeness to Spirit!" - Richard Fuller (Senior Editor - Metaphysical Review)

Part II - "Look and Feel" & The Looters...
In this version of my randomly penned "Notes from the WebMaster" I would like to address two issues of grave concern; Presenting someone else's work as your own (the lameness of subtractive webweaving) and Bandwidth Stealing. Theft is never a pretty sight, but from our own "brothers and sisters" of the Craft? "So NOT it be".
A must read... Creativity and the Pagan Web a Guest Rant by Jorah.
|How IS the Witches' Voice doing? Thanks to recent sponsorships we are still alive and on the net. Our current balance is on the happy side of zero (around $380.00). Do note that 100% of all sponsorship donations go directly to serving the Wiccan community via this website, through legal and financial assistance and mailings to schools and local officials. Wren, myself and the rest of the staff take zero financial compensation for the work we do here. We can only do this with YOUR support. If you enjoy this website, like what we do, believe in what we do or want to help your brothers and sisters of the craft, become a sponsor of the Witches' Voice. If you are too poor to help, we do understand, do know that even a book of stamps can help. For more info surf to our sponsorship page and find out how you can become an official Sponsor of the Witches' Voice. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. Do you Know these Symbols ?
Former Sallisaw resident Tina Payton was found fatally shot Nov. 3 in her home in Crossville, Ala. The 19-year-old, who had just moved to the town of 1,300 in the northeastern part of that state in August, had an odd symbol carved into her abdomen. Relatives of the former Oklahoman hoped circulated pictures of a strange symbol would lead police to the woman's killer, but Alabama authorities say they haven't received anything concrete yet. For more information visite: Wren's Nest on the Web. Thank YOU Rev. Michael Adams for bringing this to our attention.
Voices from the Pagan Internet Community are gathering together to explore the Craft in an open-ended, educational project. The first phase of this is now on-line, the Yule 1997 issue of "Old Ways: A Journal of the Craft In the Modern Age "
Written and designed completely by volunteer efforts, the e-zine is published five times a year. The project is rapidly expanding and will include a redesigned website and a discussion group focusing on Pagan beliefs and living by the Ostara 1998 issue of the 'zine.
