Blessed New Year to One and to All!

Just a quick note as we struggle to get back on track after (gasp) taking two days off for the holiday. Wren and I spent Samhain, as we always do, in quite meditation and reflection. Our weekend was quite healing and very magical and we do hope that yours was as well. Taking a couple of days off (at the busiest time of our year) from this site can quickly put us behind in email and site updates. Look for most of this to be caught up (except the email - Goddess help us) in the next couple of days. Thank you for your patience as we struggle to catch up.

The Chapter of the Voice that never Sleeps! Perhaps I should say that it's Wren that never sleeps. Since its launch last year at this time Wren's Nest has generated over 700 articles of concern and interest to the Modern Pagan community. As bizarre as it may sound, I too surf to Wren's nest on a regular basis just to stay in touch. Thank YOU my beautiful lover for the hard work that you have done on this section.

This just in... (November 4, 1998)

Election Wrenflection "The Republican candidates that opted for the clear religious right message-like James in Alabama, Faircloth in North Carolina and Lungren in California-went down in flames. That has to put the ultra-conservatives on alert. They now must decide how to keep the money that pours in from the religious right strategists while at the same time not actually delivering the goods that they are being paid to produce: The United States of Fundamentalist Christianity. "

For the complete coverage surf to Wren's Nest

Good people and a Great Deal: October rendered the busiest month we have ever experienced with over 475,000 pages viewed and 24 gigabytes of WitchVox data pulled down into personal computers around the world. Wren and I are honored to thank our web site providers, "Cetlink" in South Carolina, for the splendid job they've done hosting the Witches' Voice. They have served us well for close to for us for 16 months at an incredblily low monthly rate. Ask your service provider what they charge for 24 Gig of usage per month. the answer may shock you. Thank YOU Paul, Jeff and Greg!

For those of you that missed our Samhain (hallowe'en) coverage and our message of thanks, click HERE.

This year there were Pagans everywhere in the Media. Thanks to the hard work of so many of you, the world now has a better idea as to who we (the modern Pagan community) are and what we do. The real impact in this past year has been (once again) done at the local level. Thanks to so many of you that did get that positive press in your local newspaper. Look for Wren's Samhain Overview in the next couple of days.

The more we grow, the more we have to change: They say that all of the lessons of life can be found in nature and even to the casual observer, nature IS about change and lots of it. As hard as we try to keep this site easy to navigate we still get email from folks saying that they have visited for months and didn't know we had a basics section or a Witch Wars section etc etc. WitchVox has become a beast to deal with and our Site Map index has grown to such a large size it is no longer doing its job. Look for a dramatic restructuring of our SiteMap later this week. To increase awareness of just what is here at the Voice we are featuring an annotated listing of our 15 chapters (just below on this page).

The Incredible...

Every once in a while a critical and important resource for our community seems to pop out of nowhere. A site that REALLY covers an important aspect of the craft and truly goes for it. The Witches' Wed does just that. Containing nearly 200 pages dedicated to handfastings, Witches Wed celebrates these pagan unions through pictures, announcements, and ritual transcriptions. Detailed locale-specific information, reception ideas, and more are also available for your perusal! Drop by our forum to share your experiences and ideas. When you plan on "tying the knot" and need to know more... Surf to The Witches' Wed.

The Witches' Voice is a Collective Voice. We offer this collection of community thoughts, news, information and world wide networking TO the community for FREE. Thanks to you we have been able to do this for the past 20 months. TWV accepts zero advertising and we are "obligated" to no one except the community itself. We can do this because of the support that so many of you have offered via, books of stamps, office supplies and by sponsoring this web site. We had a very powerful year because of you. May the Great Ones bless you all for your support of this project. May we all have a glorious and magical new year.

If you live in the United States....
On November 3rd. you DID make a Difference... YOUR Vote WAS Magick!

Blessed Be Well,

Fritz Jung

The WitchVox Chapter Overviews

As hard as we try to keep this site easy to navigate we still get email from folks saying that they have visited for months and didn't know we had a basics section or a Witch Wars section etc etc. WitchVox has become a beast to deal with and our Site Map index has grown to such a large size it is no longer doing its job.

The following is an annotated overview of all the chapters and sections of the Witches' Voice Web site. To jump to any of the chapters listed below simply click on their icon to the left. Every Graphic on the Witches' Voice Web Site is a Hot link to another page or an email form.

Wren's Nest on the Web...

Craft Related News from Planet Earth... This is our most dynamic section and one that is updated throughout the day, everyday! Wren's Nest posts updates on discrimination cases, legislative alerts, calls for action and general comments about Pagan issues around the world. So book mark this page and stop by often for all the latest news and information related to Witches, Wiccans and Pagans.

The Basics of Witchcraft...

Are you New to all of this? With so many finding this path on a daily basis, we list this chapter first, for both the novice and the curious. There are as many traditions of Witchcraft as there are ways to work magic... This section details the basics of the Craft of the Wise as well as covering the fundamental laws of Witchcraft. We offer a Witchcraft 101 series and some wonderful information for both teachers and students. If you are new to the Craft this section is a great place to start. We are constantly updating and changing this section.

Witches and Pagans of the World...

Contacts, Shops, Circles and Events by Country, State and City! One of our most popular sections and one that features: Over 8,000 Witches, Wiccans and Pagans, Hundreds of Time stamped Circles, Workshops, Gatherings and Events, and close to 500 Witch/Metaphysical Shops... Individual listings contain a profile, sun sign, personal WEB link and a sponsorship celebration. All 220 of our state/province pages are updated every 48 hours and are constantly being fine-tuned for accuracy... Check out what's happening in YOUR state today!

Witchcraft in the Media...

Witches and Pagans, Oh my ! The Voice makes every effort to keep up on the media's portrayal of Witches & Witchcraft. Since our fundamental mission is to educate and "undo" centuries of bad press we are always on the lookout as to just how the media views our religion (both bad & good).

The Who, What and Why of the Witches' Voice...

What is the Witches' Voice? Why does this site exist? Who does this work? How can you help? This section details our activities, current staff, upcoming promotions, legal & financial status, sponsorships, awards both in and out, Wrants from that Web guy and our future plans as an anti-discrimination and proactive educational organization. This is a section that changes constantly so do check in for the latest.

The Voices of Witches...

Witches Speak Out! - Your Voice does Indeed Matter! Since our inception we have solicited this community for their thoughts and just about every topic you can imagine. The response has been incredible and rendered dozens of informative articles, essays and poems. As of this writing (11/1/98) over 40 topics have been covered by numerous Witches, Wiccans and Pagans. Check out our Essay submissions guide lines page for upcoming topics.

The WVOX White Pages....

Arguably our most important pages! This section contains printable versions of our most important legal reference documents and form letters that you can use in YOUR local fight for YOUR religious freedom... Some have emailed and said... "WOW, the black pages are cool but a nightmare to print out..." No Problemo! This Web site grew out of the internet's protest against censorship by turning the pages black, we are not insensitive to this problem. Hence... THE WHITE PAGES. Look for constant expansion of this critical section.

Witchcraft & Pagan LINKS on the Web...

Wren and Fritz are honored to share the pagan web with hundreds of incredible sites and we are proud to be affiliated with the Pagan WebCrafters Association. Some of the pioneer sites are going into their 4th. year online. When we surf the Pagan web we are simply stunned at its depth, beauty and diversity. The Witches Voice features an annotated listing of over 1500 Witch, Pagan web sites All are annotated and our main links index breaks them down quite nicely by almost a dozen different categories.

WitchWars, Fire in the Craft...

Are they about Athames at 20 paces? Mercifully not! They are wars of ego and deceit. In a "traditional" sense (pun intended) Witch Wars are about rivalry groups that have taken up sides based on what "they" deem as THE valid path for the modern Witch. They are just about always fueled by someone's need for Power, Money or Sex or the perception there of. I call them takers, feel free to make up your own "colorful" label for them. This section contains 32 pages and welcomes YOUR comments on this opportunity for us to move forward.

The Witches Voice Submission Forms...

Here is where you can list your personal yourself, your Website, a Witch shop in your area or the latest in events in your town. The are many ways to network and communicate to the Witches and Pagans of the world. Go to our convenient Forms index to list your activities today. All submissions are on the Witches' Voice within 48 hours.

The Teenage Pagan...

The Witches of tomorrow... This section has become so popular that we now feature it as a full blown chapter here at the Voice. This section is designed to work with and celebrate the unique needs of the Teen Witches of the World. Here, we are proud to feature the writings the modern Teenage Witch as well as links to over 60 Pagan Youth Web Pages. Check this section often for the latest in articles from the Teen pagan point of view.

The Music of the Witch...

Does Witchcraft have its own music ? You bet it does, but the problem is that very few seem to have access to this information... This section is the beginning of our blitz to increase this awareness and celebrate the musical endeavors of many fine Witches/Wiccans and Pagans. It features pictures, bios and contact information on well known Witch/Pagan musicians and details our plans to release a wonderful compilation CD of 13 songs by 13 Witches.

Gay Pagans, Military Pagans, and Pagan Parenting...

Realizing that many Witches have specific needs we created this section to deal with exactly that. Key pages include: Gay Witchcraft, Pagan Parenting, Witchcraft in the Military. We also feature a page for Pagan Passages that celebrates Handfastings, Births, Deaths, and changes. We have plans for rapid growth of this section so do check back for the latest and newest pages.

Protests, Issues and Concerns...

The Witch Trials of the 1990's... Although Witchcraft has been a legally recognized religion in America since 1985 most of this planet (including many Witches) are simply unaware of this critical fact. Religious discrimination happens on an almost daily basis and in this section we detail the cases that we are constantly keeping an eye on. These Witches need your help and support. and YES it could happen to you.

A Quest for Unity...

In mid 1997 We did an extensive survey on questions related to Unity. We'd like to the thank the 4,000 plus Witches, Wiccans and Pagans that took the time to share their thoughts and opinions with the community via our 5 surveys... The responses are quite informative and interesting, surf over to this chapter and check out what your brothers and sisters are saying about the future of the Craft. Again, thank you to all of you that participated in our "Quest for Unity" surveys.

Practical Magic - The WichVox Review 10/16/98

Our media coordinator Peg Aloi, had the pleasure of attending a pre-release screening of the movie "Practical Magic".

"An accurate and honest depiction of Witchcraft? At times. But for the most part this is an attempt to make a feel-good movie about Witches, complete with every stereotype ever uttered, based on a popular novel that does not ever stoop to stereotypes, in fact barely even mentions the "w" word."

By request of the fine folks that do the screening we held off on posting our review until Friday Morning.

Important note: This review is a "spoiler" so if you are planning to see the film and don't want to know the ending beforehand, read this later! - Click HERE for Peg's detailed and powerful review of this film.

Witches' Voice vs. RC5-64 cracks the top 1000!

What is Witches' Voice vs. RC5-64? It's the meeting of two projects-- supporters of The Witches' Voice joining together to form a team on The Bovine RC5 Project, working to make encryption stronger and hopefully raise some money for The Witches' Voice.

Oh. How does it work? The total possible number of keys (68,719,476,736) has been broken down into blocks. Now, what you do is download a client and run it on your system. It goes out to RC5, and downloads a number of blocks (this is set by you) and starts applying the keys to a section of the code. Once it's done, it uploads the tested blocks and downloads more. With tens or hundreds of thousands of computers across the world running this client, you've got the largest code-cracking network in existence.

Okay, what do I do? Go to Click HERE to check out FAQ's on this interesting challenge. (Wren and Fritz are honored to thank our friend and sponsor Cather "Catalyst" Steincamp for spearheading this opportunity for the entire Witch, Wiccan and Pagan community.)
