Sleep Well beautiful Willowsong...
Safely in the Arms of the Goddess
Willowsong, our dear friend and sister, passed over the western shores November 6, 1998.
Willo had been in a car accident and had later suffered a stroke while recuperating from head injuries. She seemed to be recovering in the past weeks, but quite suddenly and unexpectedly slipped from this world into the next on Friday.
She was a gentle and bright spirit who shall be sorely missed by her family and friends. We offer our condolences and love to all who shall find this world a little more lonely now that she has left it.
Yet, as Pagans, we are confident that Life goes on. Willo, having accomplished her tasks in this lifetime, now moves toward a new beginning and into the arms of the Old Ones whom she served so well.
Messages of remembrance can be offered in the ritual room at Remembering Willowsong.
Weeps Not, Our Willo...
The leaves on the Willow have now turned into gold,
Yet with no regrets, do they now lose their hold
And flutter down so softly that they seem to sigh
Into peaceful slumber. And so they will lie
Until the tight buds shall open under Spring's warming hand
And reawaken in time as Life comes back to the land.
The cycle continues, as it always has done
With the coming of rebirth, with return of the sun.
Light brings forth from the darkness a promise of dawn;
A Life may be hidden, but it is never really gone.
The Willow stands swaying in each tender breath
of the breezes that whisper, There is no last death.
Because, dear friend, each time we pass by a gentle Willow tree,
We shall touch its sweet branches and think about thee.
Good Journey, Friend! May Love and Light Guide Your Path...

Introducing the WitchVox Site Map v4.0
Since our inception we have worked hard to keep this site (now close to 600 pages) as easy to navigate as possible, lately our site map was getting quite out of control, and simply stated, it had to be "dealt with". In a effort to improve site navigation and to set this critical section up for further growth we have totally rewritten it.
Today (11/7/98) we proudly launch our new SiteMap (v4.0) in an effort to help you better surf and digest the contents of this site. It has be redesigned from the ground up to be quick and intuitive. It is our projection that this rewrite will render your WitchVox surfing experience a joyous one. - Fritz Jung (Thank you Ananda for helping us to beta test this)
Last Week at the Witches' Voice....
Just a quick note as we struggle to get back on track after (gasp) taking two days off for the holiday. Wren and I spent Samhain, as we always do, in quite meditation and reflection. Our weekend was quite healing and very magical and we do hope that yours was as well. Taking a couple of days off (at the busiest time of our year) from this site can quickly put us behind in email and site updates. Look for most of this to be caught up (except the email - Goddess help us) in the next couple of days. Thank you for your patience as we struggle to catch up.
The Chapter of the Voice that never Sleeps! Perhaps I should say that it's Wren that never sleeps. Since its launch last year at this time Wren's Nest has generated over 700 articles of concern and interest to the Modern Pagan community. As bizarre as it may sound, I too surf to Wren's nest on a regular basis just to stay in touch. Thank YOU my beautiful lover for the hard work that you have done on this section.
This just in... (November 4, 1998)
Election Wrenflection "The Republican candidates that opted for the clear religious right message-like James in Alabama, Faircloth in North Carolina and Lungren in California-went down in flames. That has to put the ultra-conservatives on alert. They now must decide how to keep the money that pours in from the religious right strategists while at the same time not actually delivering the goods that they are being paid to produce: The United States of Fundamentalist Christianity. "

Good people and a Great Deal: October rendered the busiest month we have ever experienced with over 475,000 pages viewed and 24 gigabytes of WitchVox data pulled down into personal computers around the world. Wren and I are honored to thank our web site providers, "Cetlink" in South Carolina, for the splendid job they've done hosting the Witches' Voice. They have served us well for close to for us for 16 months at an incredblily low monthly rate. Ask your service provider what they charge for 24 Gig of usage per month. the answer may shock you. Thank YOU Paul, Jeff and Greg!
For those of you that missed our Samhain (hallowe'en) coverage and our message of thanks, click HERE.
This year there were Pagans everywhere in the Media. Thanks to the hard work of so many of you, the world now has a better idea as to who we (the modern Pagan community) are and what we do. The real impact in this past year has been (once again) done at the local level. Thanks to so many of you that did get that positive press in your local newspaper. Look for Wren's Samhain Overview in the next couple of days.
The more we grow, the more we have to change: They say that all of the lessons of life can be found in nature and even to the casual observer, nature IS about change and lots of it. As hard as we try to keep this site easy to navigate we still get email from folks saying that they have visited for months and didn't know we had a basics section or a Witch Wars section etc etc. WitchVox has become a beast to deal with and our Site Map index has grown to such a large size it is no longer doing its job. Look for a dramatic restructuring of our SiteMap later this week. To increase awareness of just what is here at the Voice we are featuring an annotated listing of our 15 chapters (just below on this page).
Every once in a while a critical and important resource for our community seems to pop out of nowhere. A site that REALLY covers an important aspect of the craft and truly goes for it. The Witches' Wed does just that. Containing nearly 200 pages dedicated to handfastings, Witches Wed celebrates these pagan unions through pictures, announcements, and ritual transcriptions. Detailed locale-specific information, reception ideas, and more are also available for your perusal! Drop by our forum to share your experiences and ideas. When you plan on "tying the knot" and need to know more... Surf to The Witches' Wed.
The Witches' Voice is a Collective Voice. We offer this collection of community thoughts, news, information and world wide networking TO the community for FREE. Thanks to you we have been able to do this for the past 20 months. TWV accepts zero advertising and we are "obligated" to no one except the community itself. We can do this because of the support that so many of you have offered via, books of stamps, office supplies and by sponsoring this web site. We had a very powerful year because of you. May the Great Ones bless you all for your support of this project. May we all have a glorious and magical new year.
If you live in the United States....

Practical Magic - The WichVox Review 10/16/98
Our media coordinator Peg Aloi, had the pleasure of attending a pre-release screening of the movie "Practical Magic".
"An accurate and honest depiction of Witchcraft? At times. But for the most part this is an attempt to make a feel-good movie about Witches, complete with every stereotype ever uttered, based on a popular novel that does not ever stoop to stereotypes, in fact barely even mentions the "w" word."
By request of the fine folks that do the screening we held off on posting our review until Friday Morning.
Important note: This review is a "spoiler" so if you are planning to see the film and don't want to know the ending beforehand, read this later! - Click HERE for Peg's detailed and powerful review of this film.
Witches' Voice vs. RC5-64 cracks the top 1000!
What is Witches' Voice vs. RC5-64? It's the meeting of two projects-- supporters of The Witches' Voice joining together to form a team on The Bovine RC5 Project, working to make encryption stronger and hopefully raise some money for The Witches' Voice.
Oh. How does it work? The total possible number of keys (68,719,476,736) has been broken down into blocks. Now, what you do is download a client and run it on your system. It goes out to RC5, and downloads a number of blocks (this is set by you) and starts applying the keys to a section of the code. Once it's done, it uploads the tested blocks and downloads more. With tens or hundreds of thousands of computers across the world running this client, you've got the largest code-cracking network in existence.
Okay, what do I do? Go to Click HERE to check out FAQ's on this interesting challenge. (Wren and Fritz are honored to thank our friend and sponsor Cather "Catalyst" Steincamp for spearheading this opportunity for the entire Witch, Wiccan and Pagan community.)
