| Blessed Beltaine/Samhain to One and All|
Greetings Brothers and Sisters, This weekend promises to be an exciting one. Most of you will be celebrating Beltaine privately or with family and friends. If you are looking for an event to attend, check out our Circles and Events listing in your area. Also check out our Major festivials page for other activities.
Beltaine! (also known as: Mayday, Walburga, Bealtinne) The Land represented by the Goddess is now ripe and fertile and the Young God expresses His Love for Her. This is a time of joyous reveling as the first flowers of Summer are gathered in Their Honor. The 8 Holidays of the Witch!: Visit our Pagan Holidays Page for the latest in what we are doing to define, explain and celebrate the holidays of the Witch.
WitchVox News Thanks to YOU, we just passed the 6 million pages viewed mark and last week was our busiest week ever with over 134,000 pages viewed. Allow us to apologize for the slow response time of this site of late, this is due to heavy site traffic and some unforseen "downage" of a few key routers. It's also worth noting that we are struggling (once again) to keep up with the recent increase in email volume. We do answer 98% of them and by date of receipt. Bless you for your support and for your patience.
An Interview with Ellen Evert Hopman The Wiccan/Pagan Times was pleased to have the chance to talk to Ellen Evert Hopman, author of People of the Earth: The New Pagans Speak Out. The interview is a rather wide ranging one that covered not only Ms. Hopman's earliest spiritual experiences but brings us all the way up to her involvement with ADF and the Pagan Leaders List. Ms. Hopman frankly shares her thoughts on where the Pagan movement is now and what the future might hold. For those who want to see what kind of person lives beyond the book jacket then this interview will certainly open your eyes as to who Ms.Hopman is and the spiritual life that she leads. Visit the Wiccan/Pagan Times for this interview.
Have a Safe and Magical weekend everyone - Fritz & Wren
Oh my Goddess, What has happened here?
The event that transpired in Littleton, Colorado this past Tuesday afternoon left so many of us in a state of shock and disbelief. Our society held up the mirror and the sight was not a pretty one. Desperate for a quick answer (any answer), fingers were pointed at the parents, the cops, video games, the school officials, the jocks, the Goth movement, the internet, German music and of course the easy in which they armed themselves to the teeth. It turns out there was NO easy answer to this one. In fact speculation was all we had. Like all factions of our society, the Pagan community scrambled to speculate on the net and on the phone.
Knowing that 2 dozen kids got gunned down and witnessing the non stop coverage of a million refugees fleeing Kosovo has been a very humbling experience. Most of the "problems" in the Pagan community and in our society at large, pale by comparison. Most of us, affluent enough to own a computer, REALLY do have a good life. We have homes, cars, jobs, food and many wonderful friends. Recent events in the news should be a sobering call for us to stop and smell the roses and to be thankful for what we DO have.
The Combine High school issue is not specifically a Pagan issue but it was a social issue that our community could not ignore. The day after the shooting Wren posted her thoughts based on her own reaction...
"...The tragedy that occurred at Columbine High School yesterday affected us here at TWV very deeply. Horror, depression, outrage, shock and disbelief became intermingled with empathy, compassion, tears and sorrow as the scene unfolded before our eyes.
The pagan community has a very large number of healers and empaths. Witnessing such events-even those thousands of miles away-can cause certain reactions in such people. They become distressed, anxious, sad, depressed. They can also feel guilty..." - (for the rest of this editorial Click Here)
Email... Wow did we get email on this one. Dozens of pieces from Pagans trying to sort this out in their own minds. As of this writing, you can find a couple of them by clicking here We may feature more of your thoughts as this week progresses and as time allows (see personal note below).

Witches of the World For three years I have evolved this networking section, and for three years I have been answering email related to how we do this. WOTW is pretty much a section that has written itself, as it grows the technology must grow along with it OR it will quickly turn into a nightmare. This past week we restructured the front pages to this section for better navigation and to introduce the new "look and feel" of WOTW. Later this week we will (finally) offer a chronology of how this happened and where we are going with it.
V.E.R.A. A couple of weeks back we mentioned that we were working on a new section that related to; Values, Ethics, Respect and Accountability. Judging by recent email, it appears that many of you have some strong thoughts on these issues. Some of you have already sent over articles. We will do this section, but it will take a bit of time. Until then we encourage any of you that wish to pen an article based on any of these 4 words to feel free and do so. As with our Witch Wars section, it's important that you deal with the issues and not the people or the groups.
A Personal Note: Time never seems to be on my side. I have always worked a 60 plus hour "high stress day job" and in my "spare time" I do the best I can to keep this site exciting and alive. We always seem to have dozens of powerful ideas for this site but we never seem to have the time to give them the justice they need. The bottom line is that WitchVox pays Wren and I ZERO (always has, always will) and my MIS/IT career, which I love, pays quite well. In 6 days time the company I work for (Thoroughbred Music) will be sold to what I consider the best in the business (Sam Ash Music). The reason I am posting this is to let you know that some of the more dynamic aspects of this site will come to a stall while this transition is takes place. Thank you in advance for your understanding - Fritz
BELTAINE is coming! Although this chapter will continue to build and offer valuable community info, we'd be amiss to not take this opportunity and send you over to Mike Nichols incredible Witches' Sabbats Website - We love you Mike!
Have a safe and magical week everyone!
