Happy New Year Everyone!

Thank You For An Incredible Year!

The 1999 Samhain season was simply incredible. Never before have we seen such positive press coverage. Never before have we been this far out of the broom closet. Never before have we educated so many.

Yes! The sign to your right is REAL and we just love getting email attachments such as this... "I am writing because I'd like to share with the rest of the Pagan community a bit of my group's (Mid-Atlantic Pagan Alliance) effort to get out into the general public and retrieve the honor that we have lost to to many. We got together with the State Department of Transportation and adopted a highway. We have a few other ideas up our sleeves too! We will be announcing clean up dates at our website - Marc "Prophesie" Khepera" -- Witch Hugs to Marc and the MAPA for this powerful statement.

Wren, Peg and I just got back from a fabulous weekend down in the Florida Keys and with friends in Ft. Myers, Florida. We were honored to circle at midnight on Samhain Eve with the folks from the Rivendell Coven; they had an incredible space right on the river and the night was just perfect. On Sunday it was off to the Florida Keys for some Samhain R & R. Many treats were acquired for our "Sea Altar" and again the weather was simply fabulous.

Two days away from this site always puts us behind. The good news is that yesterday was very productive for us: We updated the entire Witches' of the World pages (715), caught up on critical email, and Wren worked very hard sorting though and posting just some of the numerous newspaper articles that featured the NeoPagan community.

Press, Press, Press: October 1999 was an explosive year for positive press coverage about who we are and what we do. We received literally hundreds of press clips from both the local and national level. So many of YOU were out of the broom closet and in the news this year. Wren has put many up on Wren's Nest. WitchVox was featured and quoted in several major newspapers in the past couple of weeks, with the most dramatic being a major article in USA Today this past Wednesday and the front page of the New York Times on Sunday. Rumor has it we were also featured in the Washington Post and LA Times, as well as in several AP press releases. = A Tough Site to Update: This website was hit very hard in October and it was very difficult for us to update it while this was going on. It's kind of like giving a party and having so many guests that you just can't get to the kitchen to make the food. We do apologize for any delays that you may have experienced while trying to call the pages here. The "hits" and "pages viewed" action in October broke all records at this end. 928,010 pages were viewed, resulting in some 6,345,667 "hits" all while generating some 49.58 Gigabytes of bandwidth. (reference October Stats).
Live from AutumnMeet this Friday Morning...

In a just a few days we get to meet both old friends and new at the Autumnmeet '99 festival just north of Tampa, Florida. We have been to many festivals over the past decade but this one is a personal fave. Another reason to be excited? This will be Velvet Hammer's first Florida appearance.

Starting this Friday Morning we will be begin broadcasting Live from AutumnMeet via daily reviews that will include "What's Happening" as well as photos and the latest news. So for those of you who have never been to a festival, join us online for AutumnMeet Live (Nov 5th to Nov.7th). If you are planning on attending Autumnmeet, we'd love to meet you. Stop over at the Waterhawk's tent and say "Merri Meet!"

The Autumnmeet Festival will happen from Nov 4th to Nov.7th just north of Tampa, Florida and features: Velvet Hammer, Don Waterhawk & Daniella Bluestar WaterHawk, Greywolf O'Murchadha & Briga O'Murchadha, Maya Heath, Nybor and Elspeth of Haven, Oxun Olukari Al'Aye, Steve & Lisa Dugas.

Mention WitchVox and save some Cash If you are reading this you are in luck. Because of the promotion that we give the AutumnMeet festival, they want to send some thanks back to YOU... Simply mention WitchVox to the organizers and save some cash on any newly acquired day, weekend and entire festival rates.

WitchVox Global Samhain Email: Last week we sent out our Samhain blessings to 17,000 of you. The responses were both unexpected and in the thousands...We have pledged to read them all but for obvious reasons cannot respond. Allow us to take THIS opportunity to thank all of you that wrote with your Samhain Blessings. You are the Witches' Voice! NOTE: we received some 1,284 "user unknown" kickbacks and have eliminated these listings from the Witches' of the World Pages. If your listing has been removed, kindly resubmit it via our submission forms.

Blessed Be and Meet Me in D.C.: Very little coverage has come this way as of this writing. We did have a few people on the scene and will continue to scour the press clippings for some info. Wren's Nest does have a pointer and an excerpt from the Washington Times article. Stay tuned for BBMMDC coverage as it comes in.

Details are Sketchy... But here is what we know as of this morning:
Witch's Husband A Suspect In Slaying - by Dennis Niemiec, Detroit Free Press (11/2/99) GARDEN CITY, MI-{Veronica} Kuclo-Raub, 34, was stabbed three times, hours after she returned from a Halloween party at a local community center, police said. She had dressed as a green witch. A pool of green water was found in the bathtub, police said. Her husband, who also attended the party, is being sought for questioning, Lt. Mel Maier said. Police said they did not have a motive for the slaying. The husband, who was not identified, is considered a suspect, they said. Police discovered the body after receiving a 911 call about 9:20 a.m. from the couple's home in the 32000 block of Bridge Street.-FULL ARTICLE- VERONICA - Stay Tuned to Wren's Nest for late breaking news.

W.A.D.L. Changes Name! It's been a long time coming but W.A.D.L has opted for a name change to better reflect their current mission... From this weekend's Press Release: "The mandate and mission/vision statement of WADL has changed from writing letters of protest to one of pro-active education and action...WADL has discussed internally, for the past year, the possibility of changing our name to more positively reflect our current mission and mandate. From this date on (10/31/99) we will be known as Alternative Religions Educational Network, inc. We chose Samhain as the time to announce this to Our Community as this is the time for reflection and remembrance. A.R.E.N. will be incorporated under the laws of The State of Indiana, the Officers and Board remain the same. Our mission/vision statement will remain pro-active with the emphasis on education and self-empowerment". -- Steve Foster, President"  For the complete Press Release and the latest info visit the AREN Web Site.

Donald Michael Kraig Interview: This just in from Imajica at WWT... "The Wiccan/Pagan Times is proud to present our November Author's Corner interview with Llewellyn author Donald Michael Kraig. Donald Michael Kraig graduated from UCLA with a degree in philosophy. He has also studied public speaking and music (traditional and experimental) on the university level. After a decade of personal study and practice, he began ten years of teaching courses in the Southern California area on such topics as Kabalah, Tarot, Magic, Tantra, and Psychic Development. He has been a member of many spiritual and magical groups and is an initiated Tantric. We think this will be the perfect interview to start off the new year with and it will give you some new insights into ceremonial magick."   For the complete interview surf to the Wiccan/Pagan Times.
