A week of Regrouping and Refocusing
This has been a wonderful week of grounding for the Witches' Voice after the "October/Harvest Season" High... Catch up was the order of the week and catch up we did with site maintenance and by dealing with *some* of the email. We also got other 'back-burner' projects moving and documented plans for future development. Although email volume has been insurmountable, we do read as much as we can and lately we have been treated to some very rich declarations of success and growth throughout the NeoPagan community. One thing is clear: this "sub-culture" continues to expand in both depth and mass and this is happening at an amazing rate.
Thank YOU are two words we can never say enough. Why? Because you aren't stopping with Samhain; you continue to do wonderful things for us all. You continue to educate your co-workers, friends and family... You are the ones standing in front of a TV camera and coming out of the "broom closet" to the world. Thank you ever so much. You are indeed the Witches' Voice!
Reports continue to come in about October '99. It is quite clear that the Pagan 'net saw an explosive increase in action during this past month. Like most Pagan Websites, the 'action' at WitchVox continues to increase over its daily pace of this past month.
Wren's Nest - The Collection: New this week! Finally we have put together a system to better serve YOU and now you will be able to access the 1600 plus articles that Wren has put on the 'Nest over the past three years. YES! A proper search engine is now in place. It's fast and only returns the articles that fit your search parameters ... Give the new Wren's Search engine a ride over at Wren's Nest on the Web. NOTE: The next part of Witchvox scheduled for a search engine is the Articles/Essays pages for both Young Pagans and not-so-young Pagans. Right behind that will follow a site-wide search engine. Thank you for your patience while we were scratching our heads trying to render search capabilites that were "correct and for the good of all".
Who's that Lady? The stunning image just above and to the right is the beautiful Dana Davis from Austin, Texas. It's worth noting that the only thing missing from the AutumnMeet festival we attended this past week was that Dana Davis and Amanda Guinn couldn't make it. More info on Dana can be found at the Butterfly Tree Website (crafted by the beautiful CJ).
High Profile Articles: Although it's been almost two weeks, we continue to get daily requests as to where to find the USA Today and NY Times Pagan Articles. The USA WitchVox/Pagan Net article can be found HERE. The NY Times piece is no longer up for free at the NY Times site, but if any of you know of a mirror site url do email us with it. NOTE #1: We do have a copy of it but cannot post it in its entirety due to copyright laws. NOTE #2: This article featured some wonderful quotes by Cheryl Sulyma-Masson of the WLPA but neglected to mention their url... The WLPA can be found at celticcrow.com. This article also featured quotes by other members of the Cabot Tradition of WitchCraft as well as long time Pagan activists and Nebraska Pagans Jason and Cynthia Blodgett-McDeavitt.

Make a difference where it counts.... In YOUR town!
With a current listing of over 17,000 Witches, Wiccans and Pagans, keeping this list de-duped, sorted and clean is quite the chore. Recent systems have automated much of this... This critical 800 page 6-part section of WitchVox (Adults, Teens, Covens/Groups, Events, Shops and Pagan Links) continues to network thousands on a daily basis. Many of the newspapers we talked to this past Samhain were "blown away" at the sheer numbers of Witches, Wiccans and Pagans who DO choose to come out and be listed.
WOTW also includes (as of this writing) 912 Covens and Groups, 465 Festivals and Events, 2,941 annotated links to Pagan Web sites and 642 Pagan shops of the World.
The entire 726 page WOTW and Links sections are driven by a custom written Database System that has evolved over the past couple of years. Our WOTW pages are updated every 24-48 hours and are constantly being fine-tuned for accuracy. Check to see what's happening in YOUR state, province, or country today!
The Goddess 2000 Project "A Goddess on Every Block!"... This project continues to growth in strength, numbers and magic. Thousands of Pagans and others who honor the Earth are preparing to welcome the year 2000 by creating large Goddess statues and paintings all over the country. Groups in other countries are also participating". This week Abby has put the "Dancing the Goddess Home" Ritual Online... Surf to "Dancing the Goddess Home" Ritual" and check it out.
Brigit's Temple Fiction Magazine: "Responding to the lack of publishing opportunities for Pagan artists and fiction writers, and to the demand for literature for Pagans by Pagans, Brigit's Temple Publications is launching its first project: Brigit's Temple Fiction Magazine. Each issue features Pagan, new age and paranormal short stories, poetry, art and novel reviews. The premiere issue hits the stands this December". Psychic Development/Burning Times
The Psychic Development topic gave us three excellent essays explaining how to develop one's psychic ability, as well as the reasons for it. One writer put forth the interesting theory that psychic development is so embedded in the Craft that we can't study Witchcraft withoutdeveloping psychically.
Historical Facts and Fallacies brought several interesting viewpoints, ranging from an essay debunking a lot of popular myths to the opinion that bickering over the historical records of the Burning Times cheapens the sacrifice made by those whose lives were taken.

Thank you again for what you are doing locally 'cause that is indeed where it all happens. "Spirit is God and Goddess, Lord and Lady, you and I."
