Final Goodbyes...

Greetings Witches, Wiccans and Pagans,

Over the past 13 days, the community has both mourned (our loss)and celebrated (his life's journey) Stewart Farrar's crossing over to the Otherside. For the past week, a couple of thousand of you have visited the Stewart Farrar pages and hundreds of you have penned your thoughts at the Stewart Farrar Online Memorial. The Witches' Voice would like to formally thank Tina Ann Coutu of AvatarSearch for helping to get the word out about this memorial. We would also like to thank those of you that have contributed to the message area and, in so doing, helped to make this a powerful and lasting tribute to a wonderful man. Tonight we archived memorial #NINE in a effort to keep load time tolerable.

Stewart Farrar has indeed weaved an amazing influence on so many of this path. The submissions to the memorial have been both moving and inspiring.

The Power of Words!
Wren is a very tough woman and quite strong emotionally, but even she was driven to tears by the moving post from Janet Farrar on the memorial. Many emailed us this week stating that they too were brought to tears. The Stewart Farrar Memorial will be a permanent archive here at Witchvox and we will keep it open for submissions for as long as Janet Farrar wants us to. We love you, Janet, and we are glad to hear that you got to escape this week for a much needed rest. We present this post complete and unedited for those of you that missed it. (Get the tissues ready!)

This week we saw several milestones and a record number of submissions and requests here at Witchvox. Simply stated, we are having a difficult time keeping up with them but we continue to evolve systems to deal with the increasing volume. This month resulted in a tripling of essay submissions, an onslaught of kitty pictures and postings to our networking/links section, as well as a record number of requests to promote new books, cds and other announcements. Yesterday, we passed the 13 million pages viewed mark AND the 100 million "hits" stat, both on the same day. It also appears that this will be our second busiest month ever traffic-wise... You did this and we once again, Thank YOU for supporting this community project.

So Who are These People?
To your right (and above) is a photo of our dear friends, Derrick and Veronica Aubin. We love this shot and are honored to lend its magic to our home page this week. Pagan Parents can look forward to some valuable and inspiring work from the beautiful woman that took this picture, Christina Aubin. Christina is finishing up the first part of a series she is doing for the Witches' Voice Pagan Parenting section. (You say YOU have a bitchin' photo of your group, coven or altar? If so, do send it in and it just might be featured here.)

Wren Didn't Write It!
Last week, on this page, we linked to an article on Pagan teens at the N.Y. Times. Sometimes Wren will email the entire article to a few people. This is proper to do based on personal use. Unfortunately, it was added to an email list AND put up on the web WITH Wren's signature from the email. This was very uncool. If you saw an article about Pagan teens on the web this past week do know it WASN'T written by Wren.

We apologize for coming in a few hours late with this week's update. We also apologize for the many articles, features and promos that we couldn't get to, but we do promise that those and many others will be featured this coming weekend. This delay was unavoidable-simply not enough hours in the day.

WitchVox Community Essay Series for February 2000

At the Witches' Voice, we take our deadlines seriously -- No "Pagan Standard Time" 'round these parts. Diotima did indeed hit the deadline for this month's adult essay submissions. It's quite a bit of work even in the slower months. Her 'job' consists of coordinating the submissions, communicating with the authors, editing the content and then writing the code. And she was right in the middle of moving herself lock, stock and computer, too! But she got it all done and on time...Thank YOU, Diotima, for your dedication to this community. -- Fritz and Wren.

So what "stirred the cauldron" this month? Why such a large response? The answer is simple; a topic that we call all relate to... We are honored to present 26 essays on coming out of the broom closet.

Out of The Broom Closet
The sad thing is, it's still a big issue, as can be seen by the amazing number of responses to this topic. Some of us have come out of the broom closet, some of us haven't (and for good reason) but even those who do come out must consider the negative effects that could have on their lives. In Memory of Hummingbird:
This came into us in email this past week... "Hummingbird aka passed over suddenly into the Summerland on Saturday, February 5, 2000. It is with the greatest remorse that we must inform you her email address will be disabled, February 10, 2000. We are sending this email to everyone we could find in Hummingbird's personal email address listings. If you are a egroup, onelist, or newsgroup, we ask that you unsubscribe this email address from your group. If you are a friend or associate, we ask that you contact for additional information. Storm has agreed to be a bridge to the family during this time of loss. A Memorial Service will be held for Hummingbird at sunrise Saturday, February 12th at Shell Beach 20 miles west of Santa Rosa, California. Also, a memorial service will be held Saturday, February 19th in Cincinnati, Ohio- location and time to be announced. The Healing Traditions & Spiritual Practices of Wicca,

Healing Request... Good Man!
We received this from a man named Stewart in the UK... "Bill, a very dear friend and colleague - one of the kindest, most gentlest people I have ever met, is very seriously ill. The prognosis is not good. He is my Commanding Officer in my TA (like the National Guard in the UK) medical unit. He has retired from Mental Health and General Nursing, and is an all-round 'good guy'. Would it be possible to ask fellow witches to light a candle and/or spell for him"?

You bet we will... This call goes out to all that would like to lend their healing magick to this man... Particulars: Bill Stead seems to have contracted asbestosis when working in nursing at Burton Hospital, Staffordshire, England. Apparently it's lung cancer with 70 weeks tops. He currently lives in Biddulph, Staffordshire, England.

Pennsylvania Pagan Council's Cookbook Project
We are very excited about a project that the Pennsylvania Pagan Council is now beginning! We need your help, and it's a very easy way to help. The PPC is creating a Cookbook to help raise funds for our organization. What we need from you is RECIPES! Submitting is Free! We all love to eat and wouldn't it be cool to have recipes from a Pagan Cookbook?

You can send in up to seven recipes. We will print as many as we can, but if there are duplicate recipes then it will be on a first sent in first printed basis. Please share this with as many people as you possibly can. We are looking for at the minimum 175 recipes, but our goal is to have 500 recipes and we need them as soon as possible! We would like to send it to the printers by March 5th, so we need your recipes by February 27th. Any recipe is acceptable...including oils, tinctures, medicinal teas etc....we will find a category for it! Send your recipe to us at a or to: Pennsylvania Pagan Council, P.O.
