Greetings Witches, Pagans, Heathens & Wiccans!

These are exciting times here at TWV! For the past several weeks, Wren and I have spent some quality time 'porch chatting' about redoing both TWV and our personal lives. We are already 'into' this new mission and this week we present a revamped intro page (the stark green pillars are gone and a new softer look is 'under construction') AND, after 7 years, we have scraped our weekly update page (but NOT the weekly update)... In the weeks to come, we plan on making THIS page more dynamic and using it for near daily news updates. It's your community resource, you built it with your suggestions and your magick, feel free to send your comments (good or bad) to our staff at our Contact Us page - Your voice has made a difference.

Yes, there is STILL much to do with this page, and its look may change daily until we get it 'just right' (testing different colors, adding new 'modules' etc).. We thank you in advance for your patience during this time of restructuring.

Note: All new pieces and community celebrations are contained in the teaser text blobs just below. Look for many exciting changes here at TWV as we move from a weekly format to a true DAILY format - Fritz

Next Week: Don 'Two Eagles' Waterhawk's Review of Sirius Rising (w/ bitchen' pictures and a special tribute by Peg Aloi) -- another amazing piece from the 'Witch Hunts - Exposing The Lies' series by Kerr Cuhulain -- and many other tweaks, changes, updates and Treats.

This Week's Featured Articles...

Your Mission, Should You Decide to Accept It...
by Wren Walker

Every organization begins with one thing: a mission statement. A mission statement is both an internal and an external document. It describes to those outside the organization what the purpose of the company or group is (it's reason for existence) and it also serves as a guide to keep the company or group on track. It is the most important document that a company, group or organization will ever create. It is also the most difficult one to write. Mission statements need to be short, concise, clear, focused and exquisitely self-explanatory. A clear mission statement always points to the end result. It states what the company, group or organization is and what it is doing...not what it hopes to accomplish, not what it is trying to do, but what it actually is doing right now to accomplish that which is its very reason for existing in the first place.

Now you personally may never form an organization, a company or a group. But that doesn't mean that you don't need to have a mission statement for your life... [continued]

Mahlorian Green Craft: A Mystery Fayerie Tradition
by Mahlora Christensen and Chuck Thelen

The Mahlorian Green Craft Tradition has no formal beginning, is never ending, always evolving and ever growing. The founders began working together approximately ten years ago, and forming a particular tradition was never our intent.

Along with ideas from the heart, we would read and borrow anything that had the right feel for what we were doing. We found that even what we did borrow was never usable without some modification. Over time we discovered that definite patterns and preferences had developed, and we realized The Goddess had guided us to the birthing of a new tradition. Our system is one of active association with the Wild Natural World, and we are Wild Witches indeed... [continued]

Witch Hunts - Exposing The Lies
HOT series by Kerr Cuhulain
NOTE: New Piece Next Week

The Crusade of Lieutenant Larry Jones Beginning in the eighties there was a concerted effort on the part of Satanic conspiracy theorists to recruit law enforcement officers to support their cause. Most police officers didn't involve themselves in this crusade. Many of those who did gave up on it after a while. They couldn't find any evidence to support the theories of the Satanic Conspiracy myth supporters.

There are always a few, however, who cling to a belief no matter what happens. They continue on in the face of mountains of contradictory evidence, struggling to keep fellow officers involved in supporting their cause. Some act as private consultants on "occult crime" in their own time. Others retire from police work to open consulting firms in this subject area... [continued]

Witchvox Scores UK Top Ten
By Ash Pro 03 August 2002
The Independent (UK)

"Witches enjoy a much better press than they did a couple of hundred years ago, when all the average sorceress could expect for her tireless spell-casting was a one-way trip to the duck pond -- or worse. Today, witching is both permitted and cool, so check out this gigantic news and features portal for all things wiccan, pagan and heathen" - [Link]

Also: Witchvox voted 'Link of the month' at BlueCat's Den - [Thanks Steve]

Notes from a Webcrafter: Clearwater Porch Chattin' and a Mountain of Changes...
by Fritz Jung

Radical changes are afoot here at TWV. For the past several weeks Wren and I have been planning ways to work less and offer YOU more. This weeks webnotes detail some of those thoughts. We also share our thoughts on why we don't presently offer a message board system here at TWV. and why we prefer a more proactive content format... [continued]

July 2002: Smokes Previous Records

July was another record breaking month here at TWV, being our first month to deliver over 2.5 million (2,546,667) pages to 376,619 unique visitors (Hits: 7,593,982 Traffic: 111 gigabytes - ouch). Much of the traffic came in the last two weeks, we believe that this is due to many of our regulars taking some holiday time in early July. Typicaly July is one our slowest months, so it is apparent that recent changes are an indicator that we can expect some serious increases in the months to come. (see July stats for a more detailed profile)

Summerstar 2002... (Oregon, USA)
Festival review by N`osal Woodbender

For the three of us the adventure started as a journey last December. This is when we met Sheila, and when I learned of a blacksmith down in Oregon who did athame blades. It was from Dan, this blacksmith that I learned of the festival held in the Columbia River gorge. The name of this festival is Summerstar. [http://summerstar.org]

It is a three-hour drive from the Seattle area to Summerstar. We knew we had made the right turn when we began to see the pentagram signs along side the road. We rounded a bend and saw in the woods a tent city that must be Summerstar... [continued]

Gems, Rocks & Crystals, Oh My!
by NightCat

Gems, rocks, and crystals. To some, they're just pretty decorations and/or jewelry. To others, they can be very meaningful symbols and great tools for personal and spiritual health and growth.

I don't know about you, but for me gems, rocks, and crystals make up a great part of my practices. Whether I have a small piece of moonstone nearby while reading the tarot or using a clear quartz crystal pendulum, these divine gifts of nature have aided me through my path, good times and bad...
