Welcome to the Witches' Voice!

(Featured Articles Below)

Faces! We love them and love to share them with you. One of the classic myths about TWV is that we pick and choose WHO is featured. Nothing could be further from the truth! Over the past 6 years, we have prominently featured 99% of the group/magickal photos that we've received. Got a great Pagan image? Group Photo? Pagan Art? Send it in and it just may end up here.

Busy as Bees! As I write this we have just passed the 60 million pages viewed mark, experienced our busiest month ever, and are averaging 1 million pages delivered every 12 days. Your Groups, Your events, Your words and Your magick are what is being sought out by seekers from all over the planet.

New this week: Another explosion of new and updated submissions to your networking pages (check your area), Wren offers up 'You Just Can't Keep A Good Monster Down', another powerful expose by Kerr Cuhulain (Witch Hunts - Exposing The Lies), my frantic notation of many of the changes here at TWV (mini Webnotes), a new addition to our Festival Tips section 'Dancing the Fires' by Trish Telesco, the return of TWPT, an opportunity for YOU to vote for your fave Pagan book, dramatic changes to our new book chapter and much much more.

So, where ARE all these new treats? They are located just below - Enjoy.

Pagan Books - Views and Counting!

Last week we did a 'soft launch' of a new chapter here at TWV on Pagan Books and you were 'all over it'. Yes, it was a long time coming but thanks to the input from book publishers and Pagan authors it is building quickly. - There are still many plans for this new section, as well as surprises and treats. Your email suggestions are both encouraged and welcomed.

Over the past few days, we have scrambled to polish up this new section and have executed hundreds of tweaks and additions! We've added 3 sort options, wrote code to randomly rotate the many books on the chapter index page (see book sample image to your left - hit your web browser's REFRESH button and watch it change), added HOT links to Author's home pages, Publisher's pages as well as Pagan sites that offer their personal opinions (reviews) on books, and added a nice new voting feature.

Vote Your Top 5 Pagan Books: As promised last week the option for YOU for voice your opinon about what are your fave Pagan books is now up! You can vote for your top 5 Favorite Pagan Books by clicking here!

View the Voting so Far: For a quick list of community favorites... click here! Note: When you click on the Poster's name you can see their TOP 5 list.

Pagan Book authors and publishers are encouraged to visit this page for details on how to post the latest info on their releases (both new and old). All authors are welcome with the exception of any author with a documented history of image, copy, trademark or title theft.

Visit Pagan Books here at TWV today and see what's new and what's HOT.

Next Week at Witchvox: Return of Pagan Perspectives for 2002

This Week's Featured Articles...

You Just Can't Keep A Good Monster Down...
by Wren Walker

I just love these three day weekends. I don't really care what the holiday is. All I know is that whenever there is a three day holiday weekend, there is also a very good chance that I'll find a Godzilla movie marathon somewhere on the telly. And -- Whoo-hoo! -- sure enough, there he is! Old radiation breath himself. My hero.

Well, one of my heroes anyway. I have quite a few. I think of Godzilla as the perfect archetype for the role of the humble hero. Uh-huh. I said 'humble'. Godzilla? Well, think about it. I am really quite fond of the big lug but, truth be told, Godzilla is just not all that smart. He has a reptilian brain the size of a meatloaf. He's destroyed half of Tokyo at least ten times while in the process of saving the other half. And he's always getting sucker punched by Ghidra... [continued]

Kay Gardner Passes Over
(February 8, 1940 - August 28, 2002)
by Ruth Rhiannon Barrett

On Saturday, August 28th, our beloved friend, sister, pioneering musician and recording artist, prolific composer, priestess, author, and teacher died suddenly from a massive heart attack at her home in Bangor, Maine. She is survived by her two daughters, Jennie and Julie, who were visiting with her at the time, and her grandsons David and Reese. Kay also leaves behind her mother, aunt, brother, and her beloved Colleen, the love of her life for the past four years.... Full Eulogy - - Wren's Nest Clip /Comments

August 2002: Another Cooker!

August 2002 was another record breaking month here at TWV, with 2,581,978 pages being delivered to 398,594 unique visitors (Hits: 7,478,738 Traffic: 113.27 gigabytes). We spent much of the month blocking many domains from hitting this site, although there is nothing of value to those 'marketing bots' they were really slamming on the site. Our thanks go out to Darragh for his Unix skills. Darragh managed to block what would have been literally hundreds of thousands of Page Requests from those pesky marketing bots. It's also worth noting that a simple phone call to webclipping got their bot better focused on which pages to sniff around on - Thanks Noa!. (see August Stats for a more detailed profile)

Mini WebNotes...
by Fritz Jung

Things are a blur at this end (again). Here is a quick overview of some of the changes in the past 5 days...

Wren's nest: Sometimes you have to live with something for a while and then polish it up. Changes include; a new link added to the community comments form for posting an 'additional link' related to an article (there was confusion between this and the surfers URL), Link to the full article was made bold to make it stand out a bit more, when Wren posts a second link to an article it is NOW better presented at the bottom of the article. BIG changes to the comments form, required fields are now strictly enforced (the form will NOW tell you what you missed) , saving Wren the time from removing blank submissions. The list view has been polished up, is smarter and faster loading.

Jaguar: Over the weekend I installed Apple OS X v10.2 (AKA Jaguar) - It is apparent that it is time for us to make the jump to sys 10, NOW that many utilities that we work with ARE working harmoniously with this new OS.

Witch Hunts - Exposing The Lies
by Kerr Cuhulain

David L. Brown: Distinctively Biblical Literature - David L. Brown is the pastor of Strength For Today Ministries and the president of Logos Communication Consortium, based in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. Logos Communications advertises itself as "Serving the Local Church with Distinctively Biblical Literature, Video Productions, Educational Ministries, Architectural Services" on its letterhead. It's web site is meant to be a source of information on various spiritual paths.

Mythology is a part of all spiritual paths. The Bible is a marvelous example of this. There are countless Christian myths recorded in its pages. Yet you'll have noticed that many of those fundamentalist Christians that we have examined in this series so far don't view the stories in the Bible as myths. They view it as a literal historical record...[continued]

WebNote: The pages of the Kerr Cuhulain series 'Witch Hunts - Exposing the Lies' have been viewed times as of this moment. - also check out Kerr's NEW book 'Full Contact Magick: A Book of Shadows for the Wiccan Warrior'.

Psychic Self Defense for Festivals (and beyond)
by Trish Telesco

As you begin to attend festivals you'll also start to notice that there's a lot of psychological and spiritual drama that occurs at these events... typically in the last day or two of the gathering. Why is that? What can you do to protect yourself and help decrease the overall psychic clutter laying about?

Beginning with the first question, people attending festivals have a lot of divergent reasons for being there. Some are anticipating enjoying the drumming, others come to see friends, others want to listen to key speakers, and others still just want to be around those with a like mind. Any time you have more than 10 people in one place (and sometimes it doesn't take that many) you're bound to have different agendas, needs, goals, and visions. Among Pagans this is even more true. Now raise those group dynamics both spiritually and mundanely for hundreds of individuals and just consider how much random energy that generates. Talk about static!... [continued]

Return of Pagan Perspectives!

Preliminary work has begun to reformat all of last years Pagan perspective comments so that they 'play well' with the new version. We still hope to launch the new version Next week as part of our 911 anniversary feature.

Pagan Pride 2002

Laced with quick links to - TWPT makes it easy for you to purchase many of the books that they feature... Welcome back Wiccan Pagan Times! You've been missed. [Web Link]
