Four Winds Earth Chorus is pleased to announce the release of our first Recording, We Each Send A Voice: 5 Years of Celebration in Song, Chant & Rhythm * 1994-1999 available immediately direct from Four Winds and from local New York Area Craft and New Age shops and selected music stores shortly thereafter and online outlets in early '2000.

This recording Celebrates our Survival and Success as a Volunteer Choral Cooperative. It is a compilation of our sound from 5 years of Choral Support of Ceremony and Ritual, Performance and Teaching and Bardic Circles. The CD and Tape features songs and chants from the Pagan, Native, African, World and Folk Traditions, Spoken Word pieces, and Hot Drumming! We have included many of our original works and several pagan "classics".

The project includes the powerful "Medicine Bear/Bear Song", the thundering Magnus/Spinner anthem "Gaia" and "Thunder beings", the heartbreaking "This Witch is Not For Burning" and the whimsical "Zeus, A God".

This project has been a labor of love, sweat, joy and spiritual commitment literally 5 years in the making. We have done this as much for our fans, supporters and all Earth-honoring people as for ourselves. We hope that people enjoy this recording, and if the spirit moves them, sing these songs, which is what we really want, to extend our mission. We had a great deal of fun putting this together and we hope it helps in some small way to awaken your minds, open your hearts and lift your spirits.

Four Winds Earth Chorus is an all-volunteer not-for-profit cooperative choral group founded in the spring of 1994 for the purpose of the performance, study and advocation of the sacred music of Pagan, Native American and Earth-honoring peoples. We are dedicated to sacred sound and rhythm as a common ground between the many spiritual pathways on Mother Earth. Our singers, drummers, musicians, poets and dancers represent many spiritual backgrounds, from Neopagan to Native American. Therefore this project is not intended to raise a profit nor is the recording intended for commercial use. All proceeds from sales beyond production costs are earmarked to be reinvested in the work of the Chorus and our operating expenses.

Wheeee!... Elvendrums Releases "The Dragon"

We're happy to announce that our new CD, The Dragon, is finally available for sale through our website, Elvendrums We've linked to the secured server so credit card orders are also available!

As you may have heard, Elvendrums performs elven and faerie music, based on folklore and belief from many tribes and nations. The CD features an eclectic blend of drumming, vocal harmonies and elven magic, including favorites from our live performances, Walking in the Woods and Rhymer. Recorded and engineered in Chapman Studios, Kansas City, it captures the energy and enthusiasm of a live Elvendrums performance.

The Dragon also features 1-1-1, a unique chanting and drumming trance piece written to honor elvenkin everywhere. Starting slowly and building to an earth pounding finish, we this song calls elementals, faeries and earth spirits from many cultures to taste freedom and magic once more. "Wheeee!"

The title song, The Dragon, is a cautionary tale about a female dragon who is much desired by men. "Be careful what you want. It might want you."

You can hear these songs, and more, in MP3 format on our site. Better still, order a copy and write back to tell us what you think! We'd love to hear from you!!

"We believe in faeries!"

Pagan Music? Really?

Andy Partridge Comes out of the Broom Closet!
XTC releases "Apple Venus Vol.I"

Last Tuesday was a special day 'round these parts. It marked the release of XTC's first new music in 7 years... "Apple Venus Vol.I". Sonically breath-taking this disc shows, once again, the incredible writing of Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding. Pre-release reviews talked of Sgt. Pepper/McCartney-esc melody lines produced with lavish orchestration. This IS true, but the good news is that IT WORKS. Much to OUR surprise track #6 has "Next Pagan Anthem" written all over it. Simply stated, the incredible "Greenman" blew us away, melodically, lyrically and spiritually. Apple Venus is laced with tongue in cheek lyrical humor, powerful melodies and interesting grooves.

XTC has been around for 20 years and has had several minor hits. The most dramatic and controversial being 1990's "Dear God". Andy's cynical side has often called the dark/greedy site of mainstream religion on the carpet. He clearly penned "Greenman" as a celebration. Are they a Pagan band? No, I am pretty sure they don't claim to be,. but "Greenman" confirms what so many of us have suspected. Blessed be Andy and Colin... You have once again delivered the goods. The Witches' Voice salutes you for one of your finest efforts.

The Witches' Voice would like to thank the Chalkhills website for keeping us up to date on this release and for the fabulous site that they do for us XTC fans.

For the record: The Witches' Voice DID NOT "Put a Curse" on Celine Dion. Although, it IS true that Wren and I aren't fans of Celine's "music", we don't/won't work black or controlling magic... This rumor was untrue and was unfounded. It's worth noting that on this weeks People Magazine cover it states that Celine made 50 million last year. It is clear that Celine's "magic" is working quite well.

This just in 2/24/99: "Ellen Cannon Reed, Editor/Compiler of Pagansong, Volume 1, is seeking contributions for Volume 2. What she's looking for is songs or chants with pagan subject matter. Current categories are: Songs for and about the Gods and Goddesses, Songs for use in ritual, songs for the sabbats, Songs for moon rites, for pagan children, for rites of passage, for fun, and "other" which are songs that don't fit anwhere else!

It must be possible to get permission from the composer/author of the piece. If you have anything to contribute, please e-mail

It is my goal to make Volume 2 a book of value to pagans everywhere, just as Volume 1 seems to be." - Ellen Cannon Reed
