Two Fabulous 'Live' Benefit CDs! just Released!

Live At Heartland '98 - A Heartland Benefit CD

"To put it quite simply... The Musical portion of Heartland was a unqualified "High Point". An outstanding mix of folk - Rock - Celtic - Jazz etc etc etc... Lots of incredible energy and numerous talent. The big surprise for me were the sound and lights (usually anemic at most Pagan Gatherings). Thanks to the world class set up and execution by Wild Cat Productions (the wonderful Doc Mateo and his crew), the musicians and the audience were treated to a visually stunning and sonically inspiring performance." - (Fritz Jung - June 98)

Check out our Heartland '98 Review for more details on this concert.

Featured Artists on this CD include: Velvet Hammer - Butterfly Tree - Prydwn & Green Crown Fritz Jung - Uncle Dirty Toes ElvenDrums

This CD can be ordered by The Heartland Web Site.

Singing The Promise - A CUUPS Benefit Concert
From Jerrie Hildebrand, Director of Public Relations, (CUUPS).

In June 1998 at the Unitarian Universalist Association's General Assembly in Rochester, NY, the Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans (CUUPS) sponsored a concert of earth religious music.

Singing the Promise was the concert held to raise funds for CUUPS programming initiatives, religious education efforts and chapter support. From this concert a recording was produced to continue the original intent of the concert.

We invite you to enjoy the evening of fun, laughter, and delight from talented UU musicians, as they celebrate the sounds of earth religious traditions on this recording.

Featured Artists on this CD include: Carole Eagleheart - Rev. Mary Grigolia - Rev. John Gilmore - Nancy Vedder-Schults - Chris Wagner (Khrysso)

An order form can be found at the CUUPS Web Site. For distribution or wholesale rates please contact CUUPS@aol.com.

Festival Spotlight...
The Heartland Spiritual Gathering
just outside of Kansas City, Mo (May 21st - 24th).

One of the Hottest Gatherings we've ever been to!
(and we've been to some great ones)

Heartland '98: Although we don't "get out much", this past week we did and headed off to the Heartland Spiritual Gathering just outside of Kansas City, Kansas. What a week it was... Everything we hoped it would be and much much more (Wren and I will be smiling for weeks).

We are honored to thank, the Rev. J. D. Stevens, Hawk, Randal, Angel and the entire Heartland staff for their love, light and wonderful hospitality. The weather was near perfect, the coffee always available, the music simply incredible and most importantly the Witches, Wiccans and Pagans in attendance were full of wonderful light.

Witch/Pagan Music Buzzzzz...

DRUIDSPEAR - A HOT New Pagan Band! (12/13/97)

DRUIDSPEAR is a six-piece band from Birmingham, England, about to embark on recording their second album. The first , entitled '...Slow' has been well received by the Pagan fraternity in England, and is beginning to sell overseas. Described as being a pagan folk/rock band "flavoured with psychedelic and other musical spices" they have been successfully touring the country, culminating in a Samhain gig at the Rollright Stones, a stone circle in Oxfordshire, England. Their lead singer and chief 'Spear-head, James, is undertaking druidry studies at present, and the whole band is sympathetic to the cause! Lyrics are pagan-esque with poetic imagery, and the band has an ability to ROCK most highly!

Their debut release "...Slow" has been given a good review by Scott Martin (Pagan Rock Bands on the Web), and Serpentine Music are to stock the album in their next catalogue. There is quite a lot of interest in the band all over the England, and expect to hear much more about them in the US.

News Flash from DRUIDSPEAR (4/15/98)... The band just released the first in a new series of limited edition CDs and cassettesthis week, entitled 'GOTTENFUNKEN VOLUME 1- All your little beasties'. It features live and acoustic versions of their songs - some new, some previously recorded...

There is a limited run of these CDs and cassettes, so get in while you can! The web-site is in production as we speak, so you should be able to get more info. when it becomes available. The new spring newsletter is about to run off the presses, so send us your address if you want a copy. The band are busy recording the new album, which promises to be better than anything done previously (if it isn't we will shoot oursleves!).s!).

We do not have a web site at present but are in the process of designing one for the near future. If you are interested in hearing from the band or ordering their cassette or Cd... Feel free to email them at DrSpear@aol.com

The CD album '...Slow' is also available by mail order from: Serpentine Music and Earth Tones Studios in the US.

New CD Release In Tune With The Earth
Altoona, FL October 15- Florida musician Steve Reel's debut CD Wheel of the Year , (Gaia's Light #C3579) is a unique blend of music, spirituality, and science. Instead of being tuned to A440 Hz (standard tuning in the west), "Wheel of the Year" is tuned to the Earth Year Frequency, the sound of the Earth's motions.

While this "sound" is too low for humans to hear, the regular rotation of the Earth around the Sun produces a measurable frequency or vibration. The frequency of the year is 1/31,556,926 cycles per second or Hertz (Hz). By raising it 32 octaves, we can hear the Earth Year Frequency as a note.

This note (136.10 Hz) is never found in "normal" music, as it falls between C and C#. According to French astronomer Hans Cousto (who rediscovered it in 1987) the Earth Year Frequency is excellent for meditating, and has been used for centuries by mystics all over the world, including Tibetan monks and saddhus (Holy Men) of India.

Wheel of the Year is instrumental music featuring acoustic guitar, mountain dulcimer, native flutes, synthesizers, drums and world percussion. The music has been called New Age Fusion, since it is a mixture of New Age, rock, jazz, and world music.

The songs on Wheel of the Year are based on the sabbats, eight natural divisions of the year. Song titles are: "Yule", "Candlemas", "Spring Equinox", "Beltane", "Midsummer", "Cornucopia", "Fall Equinox", and "Shadowfest". The CD also contains a bonus track, "Grounding and Clearing" which is a 22 minute meditation using sounds and music to help induce a transcendental theta state of consciousness.

Wheel of the Year is distributed to metaphysical bookstores by New Leaf (1-800-326-2665) or directly from: Gaia's Light, PO Box 127, Altoona, Fl 32702. (352) 669-6903, email: gaia@digital.net or visit the web site www.digiserve.com/gaia.
