I am Lady Sedena (Tina Mendel-Rasmussen), I am Joyce's daughter Steph's life partner, and the High Priestess of HighTor. Thank you for the note about mom in the witchesvoice, the condolences are appreciated. We held a Memorial Service for all of Joyce's non-wiccan friends and family on 3/29/01. We will be holding a requiem for Lady Tara at the Heartland Spiritual Festival in May. One of the fellow covens in our area who were more than friends to us and Lady Tara presented us with this beautiful and appropriate memorial statement:
The family and extended family morn only the passing of a beloved mother and noble High Priestess of the divine mother, for there is the joy and celebration of life and living on the mortal plane, and reunion and ecstasy on the spiritual plane.
Eternally, the rituals of passage and the circle of life are perpetuated and the children of the Goddess weave the gentle magicks into each lifetime. In her time with us here, Joyce touched the lives of many people, leading them to the joys of our noble heritage and the proud traditions of our Wiccaen culture. She was not only a mother, but the matriarch of the oldest extant Gardnerian Coven in the United States and her extended family and blood-line has reached into almost every state in the heartland of America.
We grieve our loss of this dear friend and we share the joy of her reunion in the Summerland and her eventual rebirth to an even more noble mission on this plane. She now resides with the Old Ones and her manifest talents are the legacy of her children, and the solice of those who will always remember her.
