We are very sad to announce that Lord Or3ion (Bill Bieler) passed away Thursday, May 17 in an accident at his home. Or3ion has been a good friend and a very talented Wiccan priest and smith. We of Iron Oak will miss him greatly.
Or3ion joined Iron Oak almost a decade ago with his talented wife, Arachne. Both of them loved the Craft and the Pagan way. Both of them leaders... both of them models for students to follow. Or3ion's talent as a smith led him to create works of beauty on the anvil and in wood. He has been part of our family here at Iron Oak and was the Forge Smith at our Athame Workshops. Later, as his calling led him to other groups and traditions, he was always present at our workshops, always willing to show students the magick of the smith craft. He showed our students how to create beauty by hammer, torch, sander and brush, all beauty, with magick in it.
Those of you who were at the Beltane ritual at FPG a few weeks ago will remember the wonderful dance he did as High Priest. Or3ion has been one of the most energetic staff members of the FPG and has helped make that festival what it is today. Our festival family will miss him.
Our faith tells us that the spirit is eternal. It tells us not to see death as a loss, but a transformation. We believe, but it is hard. We miss him, his wit and his deep spirituality. Though our feelings must be heard and felt... we believe. We believe that somewhere in this world, a baby will cry in its first breath of life. That a new day's dawn will sparkle in his eyes. Then, someday around a fire at some festival or in some forge, there will be that eternal spirit again.
But, for us, we will deeply miss his humor, his wit and talent. We will miss him, but our love and memories will remain forever with us.
Isatu, Illu isatu!
