"Hello I am Toby Nixon founder of Pagan Power very unnoticed website Ahem I have not yet gotten full understanding of why so much fuss is being made over other peoples business. Are we as Pagans Wiccans ect. Going to alow ourselves the sin of inacceptance. I realy dont belive we should make ourselves out to be just like the next religion to be intolernant. We are finaly budding again in the spingtime of our faiths. Have we not learned anything. We dont need to police anyones phylsophy. This is not our way. I beg that these little spats simply go away.We have earned our freedom let your neighbor have it too.We as individuals are who we are. We should be happy. Nature is balanced so should we. Stop tell it like it is and move on."

"When I answered your survey just a bit ago I didnt realize what you meant by Witch Wars. Ah yes I know this phenomenon. I have written articles on this subject myself. These Witch Wars are the reason I never join larger networking groups as a member. Mostly I attend as a solitaire so as to avoid such politics. It seems especially important to me that we as Witches Wiccans or Pagans by any path should maintain a nonpolitical stance. I dont even like to think of my spiritual path as a religion. My studies in comparative philosophies and religions indicate to me that religion IS political and always has been. The myriad rainbow of Neo-Pagan spirituality is in my mind more of a grassroots movement. The more political our structure becomes the more we become like the religious organizations most of us have come away from. And simply many of us came away from them because of that political structure and the feelings of insecurity one can feel if they are not wholly a part of the structure. I am not saying that we should not take part in the politics of our particular nations - we must in order to effect change within the whole socio-political system. But that is a different kind of politics. Perhaps I do not see a need for elders per se but rather the more natural progression to wise ones and grandparents. There will always be those individuals in any group who wish to prove that they are more powerful or wise than others. Often these individuals speak in riddles and circular sentences to create the sense that they have an esoteric knowledge that the novice must interpret. Most of the time unless such a person is actually ones mentor its just showing off. A phrase that comes from martial arts comes to mind. Loosely it goes something like those who brag about what they know probably dont know very much at all. There is a difference between sharing what we have learned with others and showing off what we think we know. These are my thoughts such as they are at 4 am. Blessed Be to all."

"I remember back seven years ago when I first entered into the pagan community. I was 29 at the time no longer young and naive about life in general but certainly young enough and naive enough to believe that maybe just maybe I had found a group of people who would exemplify what I was looking for in a religion and religious community --honor integrity tolerance compassion responsibility honesty commitment. Two years later I would experience my first Witch War at a Pagan Gathering while working as a Guardian for the first time no less. I was appalled Who were these gossip-monging mud-slinging petty bickering irresponsible people It got so bad that both groups were threatened with expulsion from the Gathering and the Guardians took on the roll of bodyguards for the HP and HPP during the main ritual Ludicrious If it hadnt been for my feelings of commitment towards the pagan community as a whole at that time I dont know if I would have ever gone to another pagan gathering after having witnessed the horrible behavior exhibited by two well-known covens.Well that was five years ago and I am still attending and working pagan gatherings. And I still see human behavior that seems at odds with the most basic of pagan tenets If it harms none do what you will. Sigh... So what is the problem It is simple really. No matter what label we give our lifestyles religions political views sexual views environmental views etc we are still human animals struggling to survive and when or if we feel threatened in any of the areanas of our lives we either fight or flee. Being pagan does not exempt us from our own basic instincts. The best we can hope for is an awareness of these instincts and the ability to control our instinctual responses to threatening stimuli. As pagans we claim to want an interactive relationship with the forces of the Divine that surround us and further claim that we want to share these experiences with like-minded individuals in group activities like covens andor gatherings. Well that is great but what do we really know about living in an interactive world How many of us grew up in a tribe or clan How many of us are following a religious path that is widely accepted andor supported by our friends family co-workers or community How many of us are still searching for the right coven the right pagan path the right pagan community the right festival environment Is it any wonder that with all the confusion as we hurriedly try to reinvent the pagan wheel before the moral majority snatches it away that we build these crazy boundaries around ourselves Boundaries which WILL come into conflict with others In our fear to protect ourselves and our ideals we have become like rats eating our own young Ironically the greatest threat to our pagan religions and lifestyles is not from the outside but from withinSo how do we solve the problem First each of us agrees to accept responsibility for ourselves. I have always told my kids You are 100 responsible for what you say and do and 50 responsible for how your words and actions are perceived. Second we agree to become patient. Rome was not built in a day and Christianity did not become the dominant religion overnight. We are all babies on this path we call paganism. Let us face it -- no matter how you cut it with very few exceptions most of the pagan paths we are trying to resurrect have been EXTINCT for hundreds of years As I said before we are trying to reinvent the wheel. It will take time. There is no such thing as a real pagan community per se. Not yet. But if we are patient AND responsible then maybe just maybe by the time our grandchildren are reaching adulthood there just might actually be a real pagan community and real pagan religions with real traditions to follow. But I can promise you that this will no come to pass if we continue to eat our youngI want to believe that one day witchwars will become just old stories with which we frighten our young. I want to believe that we the ancestors of the future pagan community will rise above our instinctual animal natures and accept responsibility for differentiating between real threats to ourselves and community and perceived threats. I want to believe that the tenet And if it harms none do what you will will become a mantra in each of our lives -- a mantra that we put into action. And I want to believe that the people I have met and come to love will not destroy themselves and others through pettiness greed and fear."

"the witch wars ive heard it all over and over. its always the same though. i hear the somewhat less than dedicated preach the wiccan rede and and the three fold law. and no sooner is this done than another point of view is brought forth and i see those previous mentioned ways of life tossed out the window. open mindedness i think is a key point here combined with a desire to Love and to Learn nothing is beyond our reach. the hatred that i see and intolerance for others beliefs and ways of life seem to be empty. a hole is formed that no amount of self rightousness hate or closed-mindedness will ever be able to fill. truly are we not all seeking out the same end enlightenment and truth and harmony within ourselves and without i fail to see the matter in which path one walks so long as one gets there. have we become so above ourselves that ours can be the only way diversity is a fact of the mother earth that cannot be refuted. as such it stands to reason that as a part of this earth we to will be diverse. yet the earth has harmony in her diversity in which all things different though they may be come together as one in nature. perhaps our answer can be found in that which feeds us all.May the Lord and Lady keep you ALL safe and let Love and Learning guide thee in all things for no matter what path you follow all things done without these as motivation is surely an empty act. roger"

"from Builders of the Dawn --The only individuality a person has to give up in community is the .right. to take advantage of others - to be dishonest - or to attempt to obtain from others or from the community more than she-he is willing to give them."

"I am a Pagan though not a Wiccan. I firmly believe that we must not let ourselves fall victim to the same problems that has come with the diversity of the other major religions in the world. We should revel in our diversity. We must re-dedicate ourselves every day to the Gods and Goddesses. The only way Witch Wars can start is when we forget what we are supposed to be doing and stray from the true path. What is the true path. Look within you and pray. You will find it. I welcome with open arms all of my brothers and sisters no matter which path they walk. Let us enjoy and share in our diversity and help our community grow."

"I have felt myself at times a victim of the Witch Wars. You see I am what some call a Kitchen Witch I have been a practicing Witch for some 30 years. I worship the God and Goddess in nature and within us all. I use herbs to heal and for continued health. I was taught that there was no one true path to the divine. That we are the only ones who know our path and no matter what church circle or coven we may be a member of we are all going to see things a little differently for we are not clones of each other. I learned to respect others no matter their chosen path for I knew that this was the path that was right for them. But Because I do not hold a title or a degree I have had many tell me I am not a true Witch and have no business calling myself one. I dont think a title or a degree makes one a Witch. I have always felt it is more how you act and live then what you know that makes one a true Witch or true Christian or true what ever path. It amounts to Do you live what your religion teaches at its heart not can you perform a ritual from memory without a mistake or know the Bible book and verse but do you truly live with Love in your heart. For with Love in your heart you will not harm. No matter what Tradition you may follow Love seems to be at the heart of it. Let us remember to show Respect and Love for each other because we are different and can learn much from each other. May you all be blessed in all you do."
