Sacred Harvest Festival…A magical Experience
Picture yourself setting up camp in a beautiful oak grove with a lake in the background. The park goes from a hidden spot in nature to a village in a matter of hours. All around you are people that you have known for years or are meeting for the first time with smiles on their faces. Hugs are being exchanged and you can hear people calling out to one another as new arrivals come in.
As the tribe anticipates the needs of their arriving guests and puts the last minute touches on their preparations, the festival begins!
Everyone gathers at the heart chakra to process down for opening ritual. The drummers are setting the tone and lead the way as we begin the magickal journey of the fool, which was this year’s theme. As we gather in sacred space, we are all gifted with a necklace forged in the ritual fire symbolizing our place in the tribe. Our path has brought us to this magickal space to grow, learn, dance, laugh and be together. The Fool's Journey begins.
There were amazing workshops all week led by special guests Donald Michael Kraig, Janet Barres, Tony and Jo Mierzwicki, Loui Pieper, Janet Berres, and Murphy Pizza. Others in the community held workshops sharing their unique take on a variety of subjects from A-Z.
Special rituals throughout the week included the Sacred Hunt, Awakening the Blade and the Rangoli (magickal fire dance) . There are also rite of passage rituals, handfastings and so much more! Then there was the music! Wow! Kenny and Anna Klein, Big Joe Credit, the Dunn County Clerics, and Nathan Rose. All of these people put on amazing shows. There is always a Bardic circle going in camps around the festival too. This is a great festival for music and it just keeps getting better every year.
There is ongoing programming through the week for teens, tweens and children. The folks that facilitate these areas do an amazing job providing lots of hands-on and interactive workshops from the first day of the gathering to the last! The young people are all happy and occupied so they feel that they are a part of the festival also. It is a great thing to see.
You can find about any type of magickal tool you might want or need on Diagon Alley. If there is something you need that you do not see, just ask! The merchants will be happy to make it for you, order it for you, or give you an idea where to look for it.
If you are looking for a festival home, look no further. Sacred Harvest Festival is amazing. I travel to a lot of festivals all over the place and each has a special place in my heart. I found more at Sacred Harvest Festival than a community of great people, I found a family. In the words of the tribe motto…We are your people; join us! Make plans now to be part of the magickal experience that is Sacred Harvest Festival in 2009.
If you have any questions you can contact the tribe directly at www.harmonytribe.org or feel free to e-mail me with any questions about my experiences.
Bright Blessings,
Vic
