Paganism and the Division of Community

Things such as “eclectic” “traditionalist” “reconstructionist” “Witch” Wiccan” “Fundamentalist” “Christian” or any other “title” or denomination used to segregate, label, categorize the people (or anything else for that matter) is not a good thing because most people take it too far. It’s one thing to say I’m this….” because it allows others to easily identify with people that have similarities to their own. That’s one thing, but the problem is that many (dare I say “most”?) people don’t stop there. Instead, they take it to the next level, which is usually a level too far. People (intended or not) give off a certain vibration when they encounter someone who has, is, or believes something different than them. Be it skin color, faith, religion, wealth, or anything else. (Since 85% of all communication is non-verbal, they need not say a thing out of their mouth, but speak volumes with their energy and vibrations.)

Even amongst the Christians or other orthodox/organized religions, people have differing opinions. No one matches someone else 100% ever as far as what they believe or how they perceive deity. We are all unique souls with unique energy. Why then do we as a race on this planet feel the need to be “right” and prove someone else “wrong” when it comes to such a subjective topic as faith and religion? Within the Pagan community, some people share many of the same problems that they condemn the Christians for. They call the Christians hypocrites and yet do not see themselves as such. Christians condemn and so do Pagans. So let’s just take religion out of the formula; because religion is just a variable in it anyway. It really boils down to people and the individual’s soul and path they are on. Each of us determines this for ourselves by the choices we make.

“Well, those Christians are such hypocrites. They are supposed to be this way but then act the next.” Some people would say…. Well, it’s not a unique problem to any one faith or religious path. In fact, many Pagans act just the same way as the Christians or anyone else does. Again, it really boils down to people and the individual’s soul and path they are on. For now, let’s include that variable of religion ….

Not only do many Pagans cause division between Pagans and Christianity; but they also perpetuate it between Pagans and other Pagans. Aren’t we (especially as Pagans) supposed to be enlightened beings? Why then do we feel the need to condemn Christians or anyone else? Why the hatred? Why the division? Ok. You had a bad childhood and Christianity was forced upon you. Fine. That’s still no excuse. You have a choice every second to make on how you will live your own life and determine your own path. Remember personal responsibility and accountability to yourself? How conveniently some people forget those things when it’s not convenient for them. Ethics and choices should be consistent not only with one’s self, but with the natural harmony of the universe. Malice. Hatred. Lies. Bigotry. Deceit, and many, many more are all things are part of the same existence that love, honor, truth and peace are a part of as well. Again, a choice is made each second on which choices we make. We manifest our own destiny by the choices we make, the actions we take, and the consequences that result thereof.

I think the Pagan community at large, as well as the individuals with in it, need to understand that our diversity is our greatest strength and also our greatest weakness because we allow it to be. I am what I am for the right reason of spiritual growth. Do not judge me, for I do not judge you. Let us judge ourselves with honesty and truth by holding up the mirror to our own souls. If we can not do that, and recognize the truth within ourselves, we won’t recognize it in anyone or anything else either. The truth lies within; and it is there we each must seek it for ourselves.

We need to recognize the fact that we are all part all of existence; which came from the source. Divisions of color, faith, religion, political affiliations, beliefs, wealth, and many other things of Earthly nature are the created illusions of this realm and this realm only. Therefore, they are a waste of time and effort. We must stop focusing on the temporary things of this realm and all of the things that can divide us apart. Instead, we should focus on how we can all come together and be completely as one with the source by working in harmony with it. We are a part of it, but that doesn’t mean we are always working in harmony. We as a pagan community must unite – and that includes accepting Wicca and Wiccans, accepting Christians and Christianity, Muslims and Islam, Buddhism and Buddhists, everything and everyone.

Namaste!! I see divinity in everyone and everything in and around me!!!!

We cannot afford the further (let alone any) separation and division between different religious paths or faiths. We all seek the ultimate truth; so why is it that we cannot find this unity within our own community? Perhaps when there is less hatred and misunderstandings in the heart, there will be more room for understanding and love.
