It is unbelievable to be posting this...the North Carolina Pagan, Wiccan, Buddhist, Reiki, and G/L/B/T communities lost a dear, dear friend this morning with the unexpected and untimely death of Lord RavenWind.
Raven was born Randolph E. Clayton in 1978. He was also known as Pema Ledrub in the Tibetan Buddhist community. Raven was a real prodigy. As a teenager, he had already received several initiations and taught and done much work in the greater North Carolina Pagan community. He was the lineage holder in the FeatherWing clan; a 3rd Degree Lord High Priest in the Eternal Harvest Tradition and had done much work with Cape Fear Pagans and other groups in the Wilmington, NC area. In 2000 he graduated from massage school in Wilmington. He also founded the Lotus Blossom Lineage of Usui Reiki Ryoho in this period. (He had received attunement to Master Teacher level from several teachers at this point.) He moved to Asheville in 2002 and while there founded the Coven of the Eternal Stones and worked within the greater Pagan community in the Western part of NC.
In the last few years, what brought Raven most spiritual joy were his devoted studies to Tibetan Buddhism and his studies in the healing arts. In 1999, Raven received lay ordaination as a member of the upasaka-sangha, from Lama KT Shedrup Gyatso, in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. He studied in several different temples and lineages, before meeting his root teachers, HE Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche and Ven. Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche. Raven had also studied Kemetic Orthodoxy in his quest to grow ever-closer to Spirit.
Raven had broken his arm a few days ago and had surgery on it. He returned home yesterday, felt woozy in the middle of the night, and then stopped breathing. Efforts to resuscitate him were unavailing.
There will be many memorial services, but right now there are no particulars. Please light candles for his safe passage to the Other Side, and to remember the Brightness of his life.
Update 8/1/2005: A Bardic Circle memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at the Eternal Harvest covenstead near New Bern, NC. Our address is 2130 Hills Neck Road, Ernul, NC 28527. We have metal folding chairs but bring a camp chair if you want something softer to sit on. This event will take place rain or shine. Make sure you bring mosquito repellant.
A lovely memorial page has been created by Lady Hesperia of the Temple of Mystical Faiths, a long-time friend of Ravenwind's:
