Lacking Something...

In a perfect world, we would receive, as we need. Spells would be for knowing, learning would be available for all, and what could not be taught we would learn from the Great Ones. Our desires would be filled without need for suggestion when the time was right. No one would ever be faced with a danger or a challenge they were incapable of overcoming, and no one would be foolish enough to take advantage of the fact.

But this is not a perfect world. We accrue our learning on the run. One might be accepted, or frowned upon, perhaps killed because of whom they are. People may live alone their entire span here on Earth for fear of who they are and how others would react to them. Do we not have the right to look for the bright side of things?

These are whom I wrote this for: the lonely ones. Women and girls specifically, though the words may be changed to mean men and boys, who are yet alone in the world because they haven’t found or perhaps trusted themselves to find the one they are searching for: a lesbian (or gay) lover.

This is for you.

I discovered in many of the spell and ritual books I have read a dismaying lack of anything for lesbian or gay lovers. Everything I have encountered as far as attracting love has been for a man to find a woman or a woman a man, respectively. Why is this I wonder? Is it the editorial offices not wanting to be too controversial? Or is it that the authors of teen books think such an unneeded topic for textbook spells, that people such as myself should be discussing our orientation with our elders, and thus gaining the wisdom of how to approach our quest for love?

Perhaps I am reading too much into intent, and it is simply something that goes unthought-of in the average teen textbook writer's mind. I think of it, but myself lesbian, I would. I decided, finally, the way to find something lacking is by making it yourself. So I wrote a spell to do as needed.

If you use it, dear readers, I ask that you e-mail me to say if it worked for you or not. I am not asking for a deep description: I do not intend to pry, but a simple "yes" or "no" would be helpful. It is but a suggestion. Thank you.

A Spell of Lesbian Love

Needed:
- Two pink candles representing to lovers, or two women candles, or one pink image candle and one unmarked pink candle of the same kind (Important! The two must be alike! (In order for you and your future lover to be similar) )
- Circle supplies (I wouldn’t recommend any other formation)

Recommended:
- Image or representation of Venus, Aidin, Benten, Erzulie, Xochiquetzal, the Great Mother Herself, or any other love goddess or god of your choosing.*
- Pen or pencil and paper if you chose to take that route
- Something you find romantic that will help with the mood, like music, incense, or chocolate

The Spell Itself:

1. Set up your circle and call up whomever it is you call for these kinds of things.

2. Set one candle on one side of you (left or right - you choose) and the other on the other side. You should now have one pink, woman, or image candle on each your right side and your left. Light them if you haven’t already. These are the future lesbian lovers.

3. Say the spell, write it on a piece of paper and burn it to have it occur, or both:

Though I know my lover is out there, somewhere
She doesn’t seem to be anywhere I can see
So I ask you, Goddess of Lesbian Love
Draw her, bring her, now, to me
(Optional: Merry meet and fair in love
If our time is now, then Blessed Be!)

4. Time for some imagery of what is yet to come (this hasn‘t happened yet, but you are telling the universe you want it to) : picture one woman (don’t specify her other than as a woman) calling to you, represented by one of the candles, and yourself hearing and answering, or else you call and the other hears and answers. Move the candles around yourself until they sit in front of you, either touching wax-to-wax or their bases or whatever supports them touching.

5. The lovers have found each other! Let them burn themselves out together (if you must move them, move them and settle them so they or their bases remain touching) . If you can’t let them burn themselves out, let them burn awhile in tandem in front of you before blowing them out.

6. If you feel you need to verbally call for her, than by all means call for her! If not, don’t - it may not be time for that yet.

7. Conclude if you would usually with “And so it is”, “Blessed Be”, or anything of similar effect. Your spell is cast! If it is the right time according to the Goddess’s calendar (or the calendar of whomever you believe in) , than your future lover is on her way! Release your circle and whomever you called for the occasion.

Please remember: you are beautiful the way you are, be that straight, gay, bi-sexual, lesbian, transsexual, or whatever else you are inside. You do not need to change that for anyone, least of all a stranger, or the writer of that book or magazine. You were born as is, and you only need change that if you decide to. No one can live your life for you, and no one should make your decisions either. It is a weighty responsibility, being in charge of your own self and your own future, but believe you me, it is much more difficult and heart-breaking to live a life you do not own, to blindly follow a decision or path planned for you.

You are your own self. You needn't be afraid to own it, even if the only one you admit it to is you.
