On Wednesday, March 10, New Atlantis apperared at Gaia's Gate in Hillsborough, NJ, as part of 'The Gate's' Coffee House Nights.
New Atlantis, a band based in Central New Jersey, is comprised of four creative people. Playing guitar, Chuck Easter leads this diverse group of musicians. With Greg Waltzer on percussion, and Al Kulick playing funky keyboards, the band has a new age folk sound. Laura Troy's beautiful voice and lovely flute playing, makes the listening experience a real treat.
With it's eclectic folk rock sound, the band kept the audience engaged with original tunes from their CD, Amulet. The neo-folk band treated the audience to 'Mystical Faces', 'Butterfly Girl' and the title song 'Amulet'. The beautiful flute sounds in another original piece 'Rumi Song' delighted the audience.
As is becoming the trend at Gaia's Gate, the audience spontaneously joined in, drumming along as the band played it's unique blend of soft rock with a touch of celtic folk. Always participatory, 'The Gate's patrons sang along, as the eclectic folk band mixed in cover songs like Linda Ronstadt's 'Different Drum' and Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Proud Mary',
The Gate's coffee house events, held on the second Wednesday of each month, are steadily growing in popularity. We look forward with anticipation to future coffee house events at Gaia's Gate.
