All of us at one point or another came to the realization that we’re different from the rest of the world, Mother Earth's Guardians (if you will). History tells the story that the words Witch, Wicce, and Wicca come from the Latin word meaning “wise one“. So what was it that made the people refer to us as wise? There is of course the obvious knowledge of herbs and potions that eventually led to villages employing Witches as the village doctor (Witch doctor). But what about the myth and lore of magic in general? Did Witches of the past actually possess the knowledge on how to use unseen forces to manipulate our own reality? Does the possibility still remain for the modern day Witch to actually alter their own reality to fulfill dire needs? I believe so, and by the end of this article, I hope you will too.
In the beginning of my walk around the medicine wheel of life, I encountered a voice in my head. At first I thought that I was crazy, and a doctor actually tried to prescribe medicine to render the extra part of my brain that I was using, powerless. I was undeterred. I flushed the medication and began to listen to this voice while driving down Lynnhaven Parkway in Virginia Beach, Virginia towards Magic Hallow Road, which acts like a kind of horseshoe touching Lynnhaven at both ends. Everyday I always took the same route, to the second entrance by the 7-11 and would slingshot to the left and go home.
I was locked into traffic during rush hour one day, and was beginning to become frustrated. I noticed a maroon van behind me. I wasn’t sure at the time why I kept looking back but I studied it in detail. On that particular day that voice (which I was still sketchy about) suddenly screamed at me “TURN NOW” It sounded as though someone sitting next to me had yelled into me ear. I obeyed. It sounds funny when I put it like that – I listened to the voice in my head. I turned at the first one and proceeded to my house. After about 20 minutes I could no longer stand it, I had to leave and find out what all that happened for.
I started out towards the 7-11 and about the time the intersection came into view, the sight put me into literal shock. I started to have tunnel vision, and sweat all over, I had to pull over. For what was before me was that maroon van on its side. The driver had made the same move I had everyday before, but was unable to dodge the Mac truck that ultimately killed the driver.
I came to trust this inner voice more and more. Listening to the voice of the Great Mother and Father as I have come to believe it is, has led me on a different path that many call unorthodox. (If you read my profile it’ll explain more.) But in the absence of normal thought, I heard a secret that has unlocked a door of knowledge that for me at least has been the spiritual epiphany of my journey through life. Maybe this will help you. Pull out of this only what you need, discard the rest.
Picture a raging river at your feet, powerful, consuming, all you need to do is step into it and allow yourself to be swept away. Energy is all around us. The Taoists refer to it as Tao, or Te, an all encompassing energy that is inherent in all things. That energy for the most part controls our every move, whether it’s turning down a different street to avoid an accident you never will know was there or to wake up all of a sudden when you forgot to set your alarm clock. I must first give another warning before I go any further, what is described here can be very dangerous if misused, not so much to others but to you if your intent is not pure. I hope that you too can wield that mental key that will open a door of unlimited but dangerous possibilities. Proceed with caution...
Picture yourself now in the womb of the Great Mother, and the pleasure of its experience. Now that she is with you, remember, even though you may not be able to see her, she is all around you. There are many in the womb, although most unfortunately do not comprehend this. We all share a delicate ecosystem that is the Mothers body. In the womb is a sort of amniotic fluid, that surrounds us, we breath it in, it protects us, and guides us. If you possess positive energy then that is what you put out, like in a pool of water you skip a stone into the pool the ripples flow in all directions. That fluid like substance is energy. So we now see energy as a liquid more than air. Hold on to that mindset.
In order to perform real magic, you must understand all of its pros and cons, the positive and negative. “An’ it harm none, do what thou wilt” is great and all, but if truly do not comprehend the power that you are tapping into, you will inadvertently hurt someone, and the karmic law can be more interpreted like those ripples in the pool finally bouncing off the wall and returning to you but from all directions.
Once I learned of this mindset and practiced it, I found out the hard way about what I was doing. Magic is cool, Magick is powerful and dangerous. I performed the same ritual and spell several times, I sent a repetitive ripple in the energy of time and space and the desired result picked up on the energy waves and I found my goal. I envisioned it in every detail so I thought. I laid awake at night and pictured possible scenarios of how it could happen. But at what cost. My daughter ended up being kidnapped, abused and left in foster care, in order for my goal to be obtained. I thought that if I simply stated “so long as no one gets hurt” that everything would be ok. I was not specific enough, down to the last detail. If you plan to control energy then you must tell/ask it as precisely as possible. Much like a computer program, you can’t expect to write half a program and expect it to run properly. Punishment comes in many forms, but so does its rewards. Focus that ripple. But control it until it returns to you. Then and only then can your Magick become reality and not just Hocus Pocus. In a world of despair we could use this power for what it was intended and help the Earth and all her inhabitants. Please remember, what you send out comes back times three.
