Robert Anton Wilson, co-author of The Illuminatus Trilogy and author of The Cosmic Trigger and other books, died on January 11, 2007. The final entry of his blog states:
Robert Anton Wilson Defies Medical Experts and leaves his body @4:50 AM on binary date 01/11.
All Hail Eris!
On behalf of his children and those who cared for him, deepest love and gratitude for the tremendous support and lovingness bestowed upon us.

Wilson was instrumental in bringing Discordianism into mainstream consciousness by creating legitimate-sounding "facts" and intertwining them with truth that was completely unbelievable. His pineal gland is believed to have reached full stimulation.
I wrote to Wilson many years ago after reading his books, and received a reply many months later, after he found my letter. I cannot tell you what he said in that reply, for it is still somewhere on my desk.
It is likely that his reply, and in fact his entire life, were manufactured by an Eastern syndicate. This does not, however, in any minimize his passing.
