High above the Earth, the Ancient Ones look down on the world. �It is time, my friends.� said Kukulcan as He looked around at the Others. �We cannot let this continue. How can these humans be so blind?�

�Patience, there is yet still time. Do not forget, there are humans who do not fit the mold. They are OUR people. We must give them time to be able to take back control of the situation. Remember, time has a different meaning to the humans. You may think they have had sufficient time, but the fact remains, they move at their pace.� interjects Banebdjedet.

Adrasteia, after being very quiet, speaks, �I am the Goddess of righteousness and I avenge all wrongs. Can we not just punish those who defile the earth? Let the gentle ones survive so that they may begin the healing process?�

Marcia Proba was next, �Adrasteia, I applaud your righteousness, but it would be almost impossible even for Gods and Goddesses to choose which humans are justified to live and heal the Earth and which should be sacrificed for their abuse. How would you choose?�

�That is the easy part, my friend. We can see and we know in their hearts and souls who are worthy of the caretaking. The obvious is to watch and listen. We see those who still honor Us and have vowed to live in Our image. Every time they gather to celebrate our Sabbats, every time they look up and see the Moon in all Her glory and they honor Her. They are the ones we can see taking measures to prevent further injury to Mother Earth. They are the ones who SEE what destruction humans are wroughting on the earth. They are the ones who are rallying against pollution, misuse of provisions, and other such abuses. They are replenishing the earth, trying to take back control. We cannot punish those who truly are walking in Our Light.� replied Adrasteia.

The debate over the Fate of Man continued for quite a long time, even by the Gods� clock. With each of the Gods and Goddesses having an opinion, they voiced them quite eloquently and adamantly.

�The humans held such promise. I would like to have seen them as we meant them to be. When and where did things go wrong?� Banebdjedet inquires. �For a long time the humans were trying to attain higher awareness. They lived in harmony with animals and plants.�

�My thoughts exactly!� from the mouth of Kukulcan, �I want to know when MAN decided he was no longer part of the food chain? Do they no realize as their cold bodies end up in the ground, that they are nothing more than compost?� Part of the food chain. The cycle of Life.�

Marcia Probe replied, � What happened to the human brain? Something has gone terribly wrong, I think. I mean, I know of no other creature that will turn upon its own kind. No other creature that pollutes the air, causes pain or outright death to kith and kin. I do NOT see a male tiger raping a female gorilla. I do NOT see a Mother raccoon abusing her children whom she carried and birthed. She does not beat them mercilessly. I do NOT see an elephant killing its own so it can steal from his own.�

Arna�kuagsak , in all his glory spoke up, � Give them all to me! I feed off the fishermen who die in my sea. I leave nothing that would pollute the sea. If the humans need destroyed, let me do it!�

�You can have their bodies, I will guard their souls.� Pana tells him. �I fear most humans do not realize they are jeopardizing their own souls with their actions. I care not which earthly religion they have chosen, the afterlife and its consequences are falling on deaf ears. Humans, for the most part, do not care what happens when they die. The High and Mighty shall fall once again. While I am in charge of their souls, I feel sorry for some of them. For others, I enjoy the look on their faces when they meet Death. They have lied to themselves for so long, they believe themselves when they THINK they have done no harm. For them to find out, they are among the worst perpetrators can be quite enjoyable.�

Omoikane decides to enter the conversation. �I have been away far too long. Have the humans not heard that history repeats itself? Can the world TODAY, not see the Fall of Civilization? It has happened so often in their short past. The fall of Rome, the great Asian dynasties, to name a couple. Whenever the world becomes too greedy and selfish, thinking only of themselves, We come and clean house. The cycle continues. Only this time it is worse. Before the humans did not have much to pollute the earth with, but they did manage to find ways to torture each other.�

�The problem is, that the human population is exploding. There are too many people raping the earth of Her resources. We need an act of attrition. We need to thin the herd. Their time is short and they are so ignorant, they do not even see it coming, save those who are wise to Our ways. Yes, there are those who are trying to change the world for the better. It will be to no avail. Their voice are too small to be heard, especially among those who choose NOT to hear!� chortles Adrasteia.

Banebdjedet agrees. �Yes, the humans are also the only creatures who can CHOOSE to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear. That is because they are the guilty ones. We do not need to tell a snail to stop spewing massive amounts of industrial waste into the sky. We do NOT need to tell whales to stop torturing others in the name of religion! Have you ever met a species who is so frustrating and difficult to deal with?

��.and so the debate raged on. Are we as humans ever going to have WISDOM again? Are humans able to change before it�s too late? Somehow, I do not think so. But then again, time will tell. I end this little tale here, since the true Ending is unknown.

***I used lesser known Gods and Goddesses here. It seems to me, we tend to get stuck on the more popular names of the Ancient Ones, forgetting there are many in the heavens.***
