We Must Open Our Eyes

Author: Kastrata Almohnd Maeve

No more can I look down at the ground below me, and no more can I ignore the sounds my ears hear in the world. Many of us, not all, look blindly as we walk forward, accepting of how the world works and how they see us. But no more can I do this. No more shall I stand idly by in life. I hope these words I am writing here for you will echo in the world and open your eyes to the true problems in our community.

It is no longer just hate from outside our community but wounds we are causing each other. By arguing and such, we do ourselves no good.

I run the House of Maeve, a gathering of friends who I trust. People who can do the things I cannot. We come from many paths and many views of life but we are able to see past that. We do not do rituals together; we do not need to. Just because we are in the same House does not mean we have to have the same beliefs.

We all are the same though, under the love of each other and the love of this planet. We feed off of each other’s strengths and protect each other’s weaknesses. We are strong, and I believe we can all do this. We each of us have our own strengths, and weaknesses, but by working together we can be stronger. Though you out there may be from different paths, you still all use magick or energy to protect those you care about and the earth.

Unite under that.

We seem so stuck in the way things were and the way things are that we have forgotten to take that step forward and make things better. Yes, many of us have gashing wounds so deep that we have nearly died in life. Many of us despise one another or despise the outside world so much we hide from it. Or many of us are so dug into the past practices that we are afraid to let some traditions go and take on new ways.

All of these things are keeping us from moving forward and are causing us to die.

For those of you who seem to think that just because you can't get along with another group or another person that you shouldn't talk to one another or bad mouth each other, you are mistaken. Just such actions close communications in our communities and prevent others from finding people around them to further their paths. Just because you don't like how they practice, doesn't make them wrong and you right; it just makes them DIFFERENT.

Accept it and get over it, and unless they are doing something completely inhumane, don't worry about it. By letting such things get to you, you are destroying our community and making it that much harder for us to move forward. So stop.

For those of you who are so dug into the past that you can't seem to move forward into the modern world, saying it is blasphemy and it is wrong to do such, it is watering down our way of life:

Shut up.

If the world moves forward, so should you... to not do so only holds us back. I am by no means saying we should forget our roots, but we should also embrace the future. We remember the past and work on the future, and that is how we build a life for further generations.

If you are afraid of the future, don't force that off on others by talking them down. No way is perfect, and no way is better then another. If we are unable to harmonize our ways of life with modern workings, then the world will simply move on and leave us behind.

I have many wounds that cover my soul and spirit. I am sure I will get more for I do fight and I will always fight for our people. I do not know how to stop, but because of this I have learned to work with friends who can stop fighting. I work with friends who are good at forgiving and healing the wounds of our people.

I can no longer myself concentrate on blaming the enemy, those who would hate us and destroy us for being different, because if I do, then I cannot protect us and let us heal our wounds nor my own.

But just because I can't toss out blame doesn't mean I won’t stand up for us. What right do I have to such a life if I do not fight for it and protect it? We have a gift in our hands; it is not just the earth or the ability to use magick, but that we are able to see past differences to the true source of life.

I love you all. We are all brothers and sisters of this earth we love. I will not stop until I see a better world for you to live in.

If we want to create a better world for our selves then we need to get off our soap boxes, stop preaching, stop arguing about what is right and what is wrong, stop clinging to old ways and fearing the future. The future is here, it is now, and unless we take that step, and stop talking about it, then it will pass us by. If we let such a thing pass us by over such reasons then we never deserved the right in the first place

I will not beg you to read this, nor will I say, ‘Please do not ignore this” for to do so is dishonorable to me and my family and House. I am not that type of person to do such things. I can only hope these words do not fall on blind eyes and deaf ears.

If you do read this, and you are able to look past such simple problems, then maybe, just maybe we might still have a chance in the new days to come.

With the up most respect
