How I Met My Soul Mate. Twice

In November 1995, I went to work for a company called Matrixx (spelled with two “x's”) Marketing. It was a customer service job for a prominent satellite television company. The job started out with three weeks of training before we actually got on the phones and took calls.

During the second week on the job, there he was... Across the way of the gigantic break room, was the man of my dreams. He was about six feet tall, with long black hair, and dressed in a white poet's shirt and black dress pants.

I had never really imagined the man of my dreams to look any particular way or have any set qualities, other than to be kind and sincere, but there was something special to this man, I was sure.

It wasn't an official meeting, but I just knew that I had to get to know him. However, he left the break room before I had a chance to gather the guts to go talk to him. I just knew he was the one and, if it were meant to be, our paths would cross.

Surely enough, about two weeks later, when we were out of training, but in something they called nesting, I met my mysterious man. Nesting just meant we were answering phones, but had senior customer service reps on hand to help us should the need arise.

It seemed to me that the man, whose nametag said Barry, was always there any time my hand went up, indicating that I needed help. I thought that I had caught his eye as well. At least, I was hopeful.

During a break, I asked him if he'd like to go to coffee after work and he said “yes!” We each took our own vehicles, mine a beat-up, old Toyota Corolla, and his a big, black truck. We pulled into the parking lot of a coffee shop called Bandeloope's.

Coffee was nice, even though Barry, whom I shortly came to call “Bear, ” was a little quiet. We did talk about a few things, particularity my bad luck lately. I had an 18-month-old daughter and she and I were living with a man that I had recently learned was spending money that I was giving him for rent on marijuana and alcohol, and we were waiting for an apartment to be made ready for us.

His immediate response was that he wanted to help. Two days later, my daughter and I moved in with him. Sadly, all of our belongings, including a crib, fit in the back of his truck in one trip. I know it is crazy to move in with a complete stranger, but I really felt deeply attracted to Bear, physically and spiritually. His heart and soul were pure.

Bear's mother lived in the upstairs of the house. And we lived in the downstairs. She had multiple sclerosis and I soon began helping with her care. I helped for about seven years when it became apparent that she would need to be in a nursing home. Sadly, after only a year or so in the rest home, she passed away.

The year before his mother passed away, Barry's father had also passed away from heart failure. Both of his parents were in their early fifty's when departing from this world.

In the meantime, Barry and I had our first son together in October 1996. We married the following Valentine's Day. And, we went on to have two more a children. A daughter, born in December 1998, and another son, born in June 2000. He also had assumed the role of father for my daughter from my first marriage, so we are raising four kids together. My first husband, and biological father of my eldest daughter, had all but abandoned her. I was truly blessed by the Divine to have such a wonderful man in my life!

I had truly found my soul mate!

Then, lately, the past few months of 2009, from June to October, I've found myself questioning whether or not I really was right about finding my soul mate. Bear began sleeping in the basement, stating that it was too hot upstairs and that the cats were bothering his allergies. He maintains that, once the weather cools down, he's moving back up.

But, being a woman who frets a lot, I've found myself feeling insecure, alone, and afraid. About a month ago, maybe a little longer than that, I started listening to a wonderful meditation CD by Doreen Virtue. It is part of her “Connecting With Your Angels” kit.

Each and every night, I listen to the CD before bed and en-visualize myself talking to my personal angels, which includes several deceased loved ones, a few of the archangels, and some of my spirit guides. I've asked them to give me a sign to reaffirm that I have, indeed, met my soul mate.

The kit comes with some very beautiful angel cards to do a reading for yourself or others. I did an angel reading for myself and came up with some very interesting results!

The very first card I drew told me to trust my intuition, to listen to my inner wisdom and trust its validity. The next card was Self Appreciation. I came to the conclusion that, if I love myself more, by exercising physically, taking care of my personal appearance, and continuing to meditate, that I will be more loveable to my husband. The third card I drew was the Romance Angels, who are sending me Divine Love and Guidance. The last card said I was On the Right Path, and had chosen wisely.

Now, I have no doubts that he will move back upstairs when the weather is chilly in the basement, and I no longer fret over it. I still meditate every night, or, at least, listen to good, relaxing music before bed, such as the Buddha Lounge music.

I just hope that the cats and his allergies can coincide together. The last two winters, he's been hospitalized with respiratory issues.

So, long story short, I will exercise and mediate each day. I will put more care into my physical and spiritual self. I will do more to help around the house, with the kids, and be the best wife and mother that I can possibly be.

I leave each meditation session feeling wrapped in warmth and very loved. Truly, the angels do listen and answer our questions. And, truly, have I met my soul mate!
