Reverend Dawn G. Williams past away July 15, 2008 at 11:40pm after a ten month battle with cancer. Dawn was born in Reading, PA and worked for Verizon for 27 years, where she retired in 2006. She was also a respected Marine and Reserve Volunteer for 15+ years.
Dawn was proud to be a minister in the Ministry of Light Interfaith Church, where she dedicated herself to the empowerment of women. She believed that information was the key to being empowered and so she founded the non-profit organization A Woman’s Spirit ( http://www.awomans-spirit.org/).
In 2007, Dawn, fulfilled her life long dream of opening her own shop; Whispering Bear of Historic Occoquan, Virginia. It was through Whispering Bear that Dawn found a way to incorporate her many special talents, which included spiritual counseling, herbalism, and Reiki and Shamanic healing.
Dawn was an amazing woman who touched the lives of many people. She was everything we all strive to be; kind, compassionate, honest, humble, powerful, strong, and generous. Dawn also had a special connection with animals and often opened her heart and home to some fantastic and spunky 4 legged creatures. When she passed on, she left behind 2 beautiful cats, Sabrina & Irwin, and 1 very handsome dog named Jack.
As Pagans, we are taught to believe that death must be for life to continue, but the pain of our loss can blind us. We must each believe that Dawn is now with the Great Spirit, where she no longer suffers. She is now the wind that caresses our skin, the Sun upon our faces, and the earth beneath our feet. She is a part of everything and she is everywhere. This world was a better place because of everything she did and everything she was.
