A Musician Who's Music Is Divine

I first became acquainted with her back in December of 2005 while perusing a Pagan website for some Pagan music. Being new to the Craft, I was interested in what the Pagan world offered in the form of music. After checking out a couple of choice cds, I was drawn to one entitled ’The Lady Of the Lake’ by artist Elaine Silver. After listening to a few sound bytes, I was hooked.

The cd offered 13 choice songs about faeries, goddesses and gods, folklore, and earth based spirituality. For someone new to the Craft, this was a gold mine of inspiration and introspection. Elaine wrote all but two of the songs on this Cd. She opens the Cd with the illustrious ‘Welcome To The Garden, ’ a song that teaches us that Eden is right here, right now. “Seek no more for you have found heaven and earth right here.”

The title song takes us back to the story of Merlin, a time of magic and awareness. She ends the song with “And the visions that we dream can become reality, for the magic that we find is buried in our minds.” Wow, you can put the headphones on and really zone out with this one. “Take a deep breath of life, dare to be yourself, follow love, follow bliss, joy can be your compass.” Elaine goes a little wild when she sings of ‘Arianhod‘, the goddess of the silver wheel. “The Hod is the heart, the Center of the Universe, The goddess’ part is turning words to sacred verses.” From beginning to end, this recording resounds with celestial music that will capture any heart and draw all souls to the Divinity in ALL.

This Cd would keep me grounded until June of 2006 when I would again experience another of her Cd miracles - ’Divine Favorites.’ More music, more magic. Fifteen of her remarkable songs, covering three of her past recordings, and five never before released songs. It is hard to find a favorite here, they are all so good. Two that stand out though are her country flavored song ‘The Heart Of A Woman, ’ and her inner reflective song ‘Masters In Disguise’ from her Open Hearts recording. Each of the songs is authored or co-authored by Elaine.

Which brings me to one of my high points in 2006. During the Fourth of July weekend, Elaine made a trip down to Fredericksburg, Virginia wherein she performed at the Unity Church there. I met Elaine at the church Saturday night. We set up the tables, conversed, and then went out to dinner in some quaint little restaurant in Spotsylvania County. We had a great time together, talking, relaxing, and taking in the sites.

Her performance that Sunday was remarkable. She sang two gems from ‘The Lady Of the Lake’ Cd, then performed a number of songs from her current Cd ‘The Art Of Peace.’ People at church still ask me about Elaine from time to time. She was a hit. I have yet to meet anyone as talented, beautiful, and sweet as Elaine. She is one of a kind for sure.

One of the things I will cherish from that weekend is that Elaine blessed me with two of her cds: Faerie Goddess and Fun Stuff. ‘Faerie Goddess’ and ‘Lady Of the Lake’ actually compliment each other, each one based in neo-pagan legend. ‘Fun Stuff’ though shows us a different side of Elaine. Here she strays a bit from her metaphysical base, but her Folk roots shine through on each song. Here we get some show tunes, some blues, and some live recordings. Elaine at her professional best. You will surely get a chuckle out of her rendition of ‘The 5 Constipated Men In the Bible’ and her own tongue-in-cheek ‘Stinkin’ Thinkin’.’

So who is Elaine Silver? I take this little quote directly from her website www.elainesilver.com:

“Elaine Silver has a voice you'll never forget. It has been described as stunningly clear and fine, magnificent, rich and supple. She sings a cappella or accompanies herself on guitar and banjo, and has performed in concert for hundreds of thousands at colleges, festivals, churches, clubs and children's events throughout North America and Europe. She was featured nationally on The Wisdom Channel and on New Jersey Network's award-winning television program State of the Arts. Elaine is the recipient of a Garden State Music Award for Outstanding Folk Performer, and has appeared in concert with Arlo Guthrie, Doc Watson, Tom Paxton, Suzanne Vega, Jorma Kaukonen, Tom Chapin and many more of the folk world's brightest stars.

“She often teams up with best-selling author Alan Cohen as musical accompanist for his workshops and special events. Other authors she has worked with include Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, don Miguel Ruiz, Marianne Williamson and Neale Donald Walsch.

“Elaine's many highly acclaimed recordings continue to receive rave reviews, while touching the hearts and minds of her listeners. "Faerie Elaine" brings magic, love and blessings to her concerts and appearances as a bright light sharing herself and her music with emotion and authenticity.”

It further reads: “’Faerie’ Elaine Silver has been presenting concerts and workshops for more than 20 years for and with hundreds of thousands of people throughout North America and Europe. She is a full time musician, songwriter, recording artist, Faerie Priestess and an award winning Folk Performer. Her events emphasize personal growth and healing, which are translated to the audience through the music and full participation. Elaine is a passionate student of metaphysics and Truth Principles, offering a variety of programs to a wide range of age groups.”

As the owner of a number of her cds, I am still mesmerized by her voice, her music, and her incredible spirit. If you have not heard her music, you are in for a treat. Her roots are in Folk, but her music is for all people. She sings, she writes, she plays guitar and banjo, and she entertains with celestial charm.

Whether you are New Thought, Neopagan, or Wiccan, you will love the music of Faerie Elaine Silver.

Thank you Elaine for the gift of YOU. Thank you Mother Goddess for your eternal inspiration and magick.
