Moon Musings and Planetary Preponderances: RE-fuse, RE-duce, RE-use, RE-pair and RE-cycle

Jiminy Cricket, Sticky Wickets! It's the Gemini Moon Cycle and...wait for it...we have a Mercury Retrograde too! We are so fortunate, eh?

The Twins are romping - Castor and Pollux are twinkling down upon us, with the glint of playfulness, clever trickery, protective brothering to Helen, their horsemanship, cattle herding (rustling) , sailing skill, boxing, impregnating (raping?) and as symbols of immortality and death at the same time. The brightest stars in this constellation, they are a reminder of the closeness, intimacy, dependency, trust, and follow through that close siblings or friends can have together. Were that it was so for all of us: knowing that "other" was always there for us.

Here is a passage about these particular Divine Twins, from Macauley's "Lays of Ancient Rome":

"So like they were, no mortal
Might one from other know;
White as snow their armor was,
Their steeds were white as snow.
Never on earthly anvil
Did such rare armor gleam,
And never did such gallant steeds
Drink of an earthly stream.

"Back comes the chief in triumph
Who in the hour of fight
Hath seen the great Twin Brethren
In harness on his right.
Safe comes the ship to haven,
Through billows and through gales.
If once the great Twin Brethren
Sit shining on the sails."

AND: Yes, yes and yes.... how fitting that there is a Mercury Retrograde - the ruler of Gemini and Virgo - coming down the tube during the Gemini moon cycle? Words are only one way to communicate, but words that are impeccable are the best words to communicate with and even more important to consider during a retrograde of Mercury.

The retrograde begins on June 26, at 23 Cancer 06, and appears to move backwards to 13 Cancer 22, “direct” or forward on July 20. It needn’t cause panic, instill anxiety or trigger a gnashing of teeth. Rather, if you know your natal chart…find those degrees (basically – 24 Cancer back to 14 Cancer) , and research the house meaning and any planets within those degrees. It will most certainly suggest some points to deal with in your pursuit of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Here is a well-known list of house meanings to reference once you discover where the Mercury Rx is happening in your natal chart:

First House: self, body, self-image, persona, soul purpose, embodiment
Second House: your resources, values, paycheck, money from doing your work
Third House: siblings, communications, neighborhood events, telepathy
Fourth House: home, roots, real estate, family, nurturing, psychic energy
Fifth House: self-expression, love affairs, creativity, magician work
Sixth House: daily routines, digestion, health, order, analytical mind
Seventh House: one-to-one relationships, partnerships, mentoring
Eighth House: shared resources, sex, death, taxes, inheritances
Ninth House: dreams, visions, shamanism, travel, sports, religion
Tenth House: public image, career, authority, ambition, responsibility
Eleventh House: friends, groups, associations, group work, hopes and dreams
Twelfth House: prenatal imprinting, escapism, safety, shadow, spirit realms

Also, beginning around Jun 10 - the lining up of the retrograde begins…often called the shadow of the retrograde, Mercury covering the same degrees going forward that it will cover when appearing to move backwards. Envisioning what those three weeks entailed, observing your life closely - the retrograde gives us a running chance at dealing with them in a productive way. The Mercury Retrogrades that everyone gets pegged over, are really times for improvement, sort of like a “grace period”. The only catch is that you have to realize that you have something that you can -refuse, reduce, repair, recycle - in order to get the tasks done.

Two Gemini Ideas for the Gemini Moon Cycle and Mercury Retrograde

IDEA #1:
Since the sign of Cancer (of the Mercury Retrograde) represents our stomach, breasts, and how we nurture others and ourselves...have you heard about this organization? “No-GMO Project”
Just search for their website, they have lists of products/ vendors who have voluntarily labeled their products with the “NO-GMO PROJECT” label – all sorts of products, not just food products. If you know any food producers, turn them onto to the process of verifying their products. Shop with impeccable Gemini choices.

IDEA #2:
The sign of Cancer correlates with the Moon. The seasonal cycles, the changing phases and the various dips and swirls of the eclipses, and our intimate personal connection to La Luna’s watery imprinting and tidal pull upon us is an important factor during such a retrograde. Our emotions may be at full swing, ranting, raving and remembering. We CAN REFUSE certain things. We CAN choose to reduce, reuse and recycle. But the first most important is the refusing. Speaking a light Gemini “No thank you” might be useful during this mercury retrograde.

Planetary Preponderances for the GEMINI Moon cycle

June 7: Neptune RX/5pisces22 until 11/13/13
Neptune RE-trogrades TOO! You can do the same thing. …Locate these degrees in your chart to cover the long stretch until November…it the homeroom sign, Neptune is wallowing around in it’s own oceania, indulging with deep gratification as boundaries are weakened, intolerances are softened. This energy is great for deep ritual, magick,'s helpful if you bring your own scuba gear, but buddy breathing will work in a pinch.

June 11: Saturn trines Neptune 5scorpio22/5pisces22
Beyond the sticky wicket: if you don’t know what a sticky wicket is, you might find out during this transit, standards are questioned, reality can turn on it’s side. Keep breathing and enjoy the trip to never-never land. Secrets and possibilities - develop skill within your dreamscapes.

June 16: Chiron RX/13pisces50 until 11/19/13
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Clause and his name is Chiron. More Piscean gift giving, healing and relaxing on the ferry over the river Styx back and forth. Carry a coin your mouth if you are into serious transformational possibilities. Bring a few extra for your friends who show up unexpectedly to take the trip with you.

June 26: Mercury RX/ 23cancer06 to 13caner22 (until 7/20)
See article above

July 8: Saturn Direct 4scorpio49 until 3/2/14
Saturn has been Retrograding since LAST NOVEMBER. Yes, last NOVEMBER! The whole of it in Scorpio, we have been holding tight to our secrets, developing strongholds of power, structure and now the ramparts open, and we release our magnificent radiance, magnetism and loyalties; stand in our power.
