Fare thee well
Monday, February 21, 2000 at 16:09:00 (EST)
I am a young solitary practioner and when I read The Witches Bible it felt like coming home. Thank you for the guiding light which helped to lead this spirit to sanctuary. Solace be with all who knew, loved, and honoured Stewart Farrar. Blessed be.
"And ye shall meet, and know, and remember, and love them again."
Brightest blessings on the journey

Perhaps the first touch of magic is the strongest impression, the longest remembered. Is there another couple who has contributed so much to the rest of us? For myself, I can say no, there has not been. The works of Janet and Stewart have guided my steps for more than twenty years, and though I may never have the honor in this lifetime of meeting Janet, just as had not the honor to meet Stewart, the words they gave us both together and individually will live on. What a gigantic space you must have at your side, now, Janet. I cannot claim the ache that you must feel, but still, there are tears.

Until the next life. Farewell
Monday, February 21, 2000 at 13:56:37 (EST)
I never met Stuart. I read only some of his work, but I felt a deep sense of loss when I heard of his passing.
He has been a inspiration for thousands and I can only hope that his passion and deep connection within the Craft will contiunue to give others hope and freedom to love each other and themselves.
I know he will be burning as brighter trail into the next life as he did in this.
All my love to his family and friends.

I knew Stewart. I had been a correspondent of his for a number of years, had filled out questionnaires and been quoted in a couple of his books. I liked him and so when the first tour that Stewart and Janet took was organized in 1991, I arranged to be a 'rest' leg of the tour. I connected up the tour organizers with two paying gigs on either side of their visit with me - with the Earth Religions Cultural Assoc in Seattle and Temple of the Lady in Victoria - and arranged an introduction with the Covenant of Gaia in Calgary.
So Janet and Stewart came up to the Pacific NW and British Columbia in the hot summer of 1991 and stayed with my family for a week. I drove down to Seattle and visited down there and then hung around with them as a native tour guide during their visit. My Priestess hosted a garden party and I invited prominent people I knew from the various factions in
the Wiccan and Pagan community as well as friends of Janet and Stewart and my student group.
Stewart was a gentle, thoughtful, kind and intelligent man, devoted to his wife, and a chain smoker. He was curious about everything. I remember particularly how thrilled he was when we went up Grouse Mountain (there's a cablecar to the top of this popular ski hill outside Vancouver) and there was a deer wandering around that had come in from
the surrounding forest. And how pleased Janet was to see raccoons foraging in my backyard. They didn't have wildlife like that in Ireland.
A pleasant pair of houseguests. We guested them in my coven and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting them. I regret that this was the only time I met Stewart in person although our correspondence continued for some time after that.
So, I will remember him as a person. I will also remember his service to our religion - I grant the legitimacy of the criticism of his violation of his Oaths of Initiation but nonetheless believe that his books were a tremendous service to the Gods. His books, both solo and in collaboration with Janet, virtually alone (at least on this side of the water) kept the British Traditional approach available as an option to seekers. I personally learned a great deal from them.
May he be born again surrounded by those who knew and loved him in this life and may he know them again and love them again.

Although I never met Stewart, I felt his power in his writing. I'm truly sorry, Janet for your loss. We all grieve with you.
Monday, February 21, 2000 at 09:27:10 (EST)
I saw Stewart on a Time Life video with Janet befor I even entered the craft. I was so impressed by his presence, little did I know I would enter the craft and read his books. I learned so much about how to properly deal with my fellow pagans. Later I had the privilage of taking one of Stewarts writing seminars at Craftwise. He was an insparation and wonderful guide in never ending journey. Thank You Stewart.

The captain and the cohorts of the queens gaurd of the temple of the inner circle bow low in due respect for the one who made it possible for the familial trained to come out of the "closet" so to speak.
We also bow low for the fact that we are now a recognized belief form and not a gaggle of cooks.
Thank you for the courage we could or would not muster.
I will try to keep it alive, in myself, and in my childs education.

Thank you Stewart for all the insight and help that you provided, even to persons you never met. Certainly most every Coven as well as Solitary practitioner of the Craft has used your books and materials as an aid in their religious education. The Summerland is even more blessed now.

Love is a nymph on the water
And her name is Esthmeth Rue'
With raven hair asunder
A morning lotus hue,
On the softest of winds she calls to the world,
*Seek I; Seek Esthmeth Rue.'
In the purest of lovers she rises on high.
*It is I; It is Esthmeth Rue.'
As dusk rises low, on the ebb of the sea,
She bids the world adieu
To the blackened waters
Of the evening sky
*Farewell my Esthmeth Rue.'

The day I bought the Ferrar's book 'Pagan Path', my life changed forever. It was a true epiphany to have found my path, and their book helped me tremendously. Thank you Stewart....Blessed Be until we meet in the summerlands.

I feel somehow empty at having learned of Stewart's passing. I only wish I had had the good fortune to meet him. But his legacy continues. What Witches Do is one of the books on my recommended reading list for all my proteges, and The Witches Goddess and The Witches God are wonder reference books for anyone unfamilier with the different pantheons. May we Merry Meet in the Summerland. Blessed Be.

As a new Witch (only a few years study so far), I want to say thank you. As a Solitary Practitioner, the guidance you have provided has lit a path that has, at times, seemed too dark to travel. In this life you truly honored the 3 aspects of the God: YOUTH WARRIOR SAGE.
Enjoy the Summerlands. We will see you again soon.

'The witches Bible' was one of the first books i read, i taught me what witches really were and not the myth others seem to think. it gave me a different look on life and made me think deeper about everything we come across. Thankyou to stewart Farrar for leading me to this beautifull path. Now you have reached summerland, i hope your days there will be peaceful and happy. I honour you.
On The Path
Sunday, February 20, 2000 at 01:10:46 (EST)
Nine years ago, if someone asked me what my faith was I would say I was agnostic. Then one day, while poking around in the dusty corners of my favorite used bookstore, a book jumped off the shelf at me. The title of the book was What Witches Do and it would change my life. As I read that book I felt like I was waking from a long sleep. I never had the chance to thank Stewart Farrar for guiding me to a path that has brought me such peace and happiness. The wheel turns and perhaps I will get my chance in another time. Farewell and good journey to thee Stewart.
Farewell to a Great Teacher

Janet and Stewart were the first Wiccan authors I read when I began my search for this path. Thank you dear brother and sister for your wisdom, courage, and gifts. Stewart, you will be missed here. May your passage to Summerland be gentle and wonderful and may Janet find comfort in the thought of how many you both have reached.

Walk in Beauty Our Dear Prince
Saturday, February 19, 2000 at 23:50:11 (EST)
It is with a heavy heart that I write this. Certainly not for Stewart Farrar who now dwells with the Lord & Lady. But for those who remain behind and must face the days (for now) without him. Knowing that one day we will all be together again is what keeps our hearts alive at a time like this. His works live on in our world. I can only hope that the knowledge and love that he so graciously gave us, will continue to be pasted on from generation to generation. Thank you, kind and gentle Spirit for having passed our way. May you forever and always Walk in Beauty

The Farrars - I was afraid of witches until I learned of them. I was skeptical of the witches religion until I read them. I became a witch because of them. I continue this path as a Bard to praise them. Stewart Farrar - A man of honor who brought the reality of this beautiful path from the darkness of misunderstanding. A man of knowledge who shared selflessly. A man of wisdom who I will call teacher.

Several years back I met you at a book signing, you not only signed my book, but treated me as an equal. A status I still doubt I deserved. Now you have found your dorway into Summer. May all your days be pleasent.

Never to Forget You, Stewart
Saturday, February 19, 2000 at 20:55:35 (EST)
It is a great loss to us to see you go, but it is with great honor to have had you in this lifetime as a Mentor, Elder, and Friend. I never met you but through your words I feel a bond. As I reminisce over your past works I can honestly say that I honor all you have done. I feel a great need to never let you be forgotten. Through future generations let it be known that you are a Memorial of true Witchcraft. To Janet and Gavin, may you be blessed and your sorrow be replaced with thoughts of the loving Spirit which surrounded you throughout Stewart's life. See you on the brighter side. In Love and Spirit

One of my first books was from a Lord Clancy my mother had met at a dinner party. What Witches Do has been in my collection for awhile now and I want to give my love to everyone who needs a hug right now. Stewart Farrar will always be with us!!! @-,-'-,-'---------

I have followed the Alexandrian path for over a dozen years, and have found in Stewart a great inspiration, teacher and leader filled with humour, insight and wisdom. While he will be missed, his legacy (and Janet's and Gavin's) will live on long after we are ALL gone...
With deepest gratitude,
Merry part, Stewart
Thanks to a bright spirit and Teacher

I never had the fortune to meet Stewart in person, to my deep regret. I feel it would have been a high point in my life. I fell on What Witches Do many years ago, and was intrigued enough by the writing of this brilliant man and his lifemate to investigate further into a religious lifestyle that is the only one I have ever been able to make sense of. Belated thanks to Stewart and Janet, for all the knowledge and wisdom they have imparted in their writings and film. Thanks for continuing to educate and support those who seek. Thanks for the light that you brought to this life. May your journey be a joyful one! Blessed be,

Merry Meet, Merry Part, Merry Meet Again
Saturday, February 19, 2000 at 13:38:27 (EST)
I met Stewart Farrar at the Heartland Pagan Festival, Kansas many years ago. I remain inspired by his sincerity and keen sense of humor. The memory of Stewart that is by far the strongest for me took place during the Main Ritual, which was officiated by Janet and Stewart. The elemental invocations were begun, air was called, and the wind stirred strongly among the circle of 350 persons. Then fire was called by Stewart. At first the fire in the south quarter flickered, then as Stewart spoke louder, the fire burst skywards, almost lighting Stewarts backside! He, of course, took it in stride and laughed, and went on with the ritual. And that's how he lived life. Merry Part, and Merry Meet Again.

What can I say? I only read of Stewart Farrar's passage today and I must say it was quite a shock for me. Knowing that the things he left us are immortal, I cannot grief but only wish for his wife and loved ones that they get through this. Having lost a loved one myself, I know that this time is the toughest. I hope that the memory of Stewart Farrar will remain as strong as it is now and that his thoughts and stories will carry the next generations of witches.
