Faith - Within or Without?

Feeling a call to go and check some things out, I found the request for submissions; at that point I knew I was to write something in regards to Faith. Sitting down, I typed up something, being careful of my words and my thoughts conveyed, then I counted and I was short by about 400-words. It was then, that I realized what I had done. Instead of sitting down and reaching inward and gathering what all I had to say, I sat down and sorted through what it was I wanted to send across - of course my writing would fall short. For all of my writings - that are anything to be proud of come from deep within, they come from my heart, spirit, or soul. They come from me having been guided to share with a sheet of paper or a previously blank screen something that is needed to be known. I walk by Faith, I live by Faith, I move by Faith. Faith guides me through all aspects of my life, or at least I always try to have it so. Why then was I not willing to let it continue to guide me?
Because Faith is one of those things that is a bit scary, it can sometimes ask things of you that you did not realize were possible. That you may have thought you were not capable of or should be doing. But, you know what? The funny thing about Faith is, that it will never steer you wrong. For Faith has an insight that we as humans often are not able to fully tap into. Maybe it's part of having a free will or maybe it's because we always have to categorize things in such an organized fashion it becomes difficult to grasp the unknown, the unseen, the intangible. After all, isn't that the very thing that pushes religions, science and technology forward - hoping to find reasoning, an order, and a way of things that we can not only grasp but also hopefully control?
No one like's to feel that they are out of control, and so of course we are going to look to things that can and do make sense to us. Where does Faith come into play? Faith is the thing that if we allow it to, can guide us on our way through this life, can show us glimpses of how things used to be, are, and should be or could be if we were to do certain things. Go down certain paths. Faith is what happens to us, when we are actually choosing to believe in some thing, some one, or some sort of essence. Through Faith, all things are possible.
When you have faith, you are willing to put your heart and mind on the line. Your spirit follows, and therefore you have the strength to carry on. It's something that can wrap it's self about us, within us, and before us, so that we may never feel totally alone and lost. Faith is an amazing thing when you think about it. It's one of the few things that we can share with others, however cannot give to others. For Faith must be found within, for that is the only place it is able to thrive.
Following Faith, I have found a sense of freedom, a sense of being, a sense of importance in this vast galaxy and world about us. For it gives a purpose, helps me along my way, and is there for me. It allows me to know where I should be, where I should go, and what I should be doing. Yet, it allows me to figure out how to get where and what's the best way for me to do something. It gives me guidance, yet gives me independence. Faith only requires one thing - belief or trust. It will not turn against you, for it is nothing of our world. It is something of a higher calling, a different world, a sense of something beyond our normal and typical means.
Faith is something that you can only find after you have found no one and nothing there for you, at some point. It's through life's trials and tribulations that you find Faith or Faith finds you. Trusting that there is something greater than us, mere humans, knowing that there is a purpose, a reason, a calling for us all. It's just a matter of if we are going to hear it or not. Some call it Fate or Destiny. Others call it Divine, god or goddess, and yet others still refuse to have Faith, at all. For them they will wander aimlessly until gradually they eventually find it.
There's faith in one's self, in others, in higher powers, but when it all comes right down to it, if you do not have Faith in some thing, on some level, how do you figure you are even existing? How do you not know that this just isn't some part of your imagination run away with you? When all else fails, Faith is the only thing left.
Maybe that's why it's something that has to be found within, and cannot be given. For it is truly within one's darkest hour, that Faith is not only found but tested, as well. Just as it is through the passing of time, recognition, and patience that you realize what you are, who you are, and why you are - it is through life that we live. It is through Faith that we accomplish.
Unlike many things, Faith is something that once you hold onto will never let go of you, however you can let go of it. However, if you do let go of it - like I have, sad to say, you will feel a loss, a need to wander and wonder, a pondering of life and all it holds, and that time around you will find no answers. For it is Faith that helps calm us, for it gives us a way, a path in the darkness, or a shielding from the brightness. It is a way, not a thing. It is a sense, not an object. It is something more than us, yet within us.
Some even say it is only through Faith that our world exists as the way we see it. For it is through believing that the sun rises and sets, the moon passes and wanes, the rain falls and sunbeams pour down that allows the order and sequence of events to happen. But, what I say is ... I would trust nothing other than Faith to guide me, for it has never guided me wrong. It's easy to say that one will not do something; 'never say never' comes to mind. The important thing is though, once you have gone awry that you realize where, and you find your way back to where you need to be, should be, and could be some day. After all, no pathway in Faith is unclouded or smooth - for if it were easy to have Faith, everyone would have it, at all times. Some of the most 'right', 'best', 'good' things are the very most difficult to do, be, and allow yourself to feel. Sometimes it's nicer to have things easy, but that doesn't make them any better - but does it make them any worse?
I guess that's just something you and your Faith will have to decide. Where you need to be, should be, could be, and how you're going to get there, when, and why. Or maybe just 'keep the faith', and live your life through the trust that you will be guided by the Sight of what is Right - Faith.
