Mambo Vye Zo Komande la Menfo Daginen

Located in: Lansdale, Pennsylvania

Clergy Profile: I am 52 years old, and have been walking the magickal path since 1987. From 1987 to 1993, I studied with Tom Cowan, in the Michael Harner school of Shamanic practices. Through Tom, I learned many of the techniques I still employ in my work today. I met Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki in 1993, and became her private student. Along with lessons and teachings, I handled all her tour and speaking engagements for 10 years. During that time, Dolores initiated me as the Last Walker of her Village Tradition, giving me her British Craft lineage and handing me her line to carry forward. I also completed my studies in the SOL, and Dolores initiated me to Third Degree Magus in Servants of the Light, the Occult Sciences school that she directs in England. Together with my husband Don, we lead Lodge of the Walker, an affliate lodge of the SOL here in Pennsylvania. We offer training, classes and teachings based on our combined years of learning with Dolores and the lessons and practices in the school.

An abiding interest in Haitian art and spirituality lead me in 2003 to Haiti, where I was ordained as a Haitian Vodoun priest in the southern coastal town of Jacmel. I took the asson from the hand of Papa Loko and became Mambo Asogwe. My husband also took the asson, and together, we now run Sosyete du Marche, an American Vodou house. I strive to bring the world a better view of Vodou, as an estactic path of faith to God. We offer classes and training here at the hounfort.

The mandate of Lodge of the Walker is Charity, Service and Education. I fulfill these goals through public works, private services and on-going classes on a variety of topics. Through my ordination in both the SOL and the New Mexico Theological Seminary, I work in the community by performing legally recognized services such as weddings, funeral memorials and birth celebrations. To date, we have perfomed legally recognized weddings in 15 states or about 6 times a year. I do public work by presenting lectures, forums and panels on Haiti, Haitian Art and the Haitian people throughout the year at colleges and universities, bringing my knowledge and experience of Haiti to the public, so that true awareness of both the religion and the plight of the Haitian people can be known. We have presented at SUNY, Swarthmore, St. Roses of Albany and Schenectady Community College.

Our Charity work is focused through our non profit organization called Lespwa Sans Bode (hope Without Borders) . Each year, we bring doctors and nurses to Haiti, to help bring medical attention to some of the poorest on earth. We also act locally through our efforts with Manna on Main Street, a food bank here in Lansdale and our own personal initiatives performed by each member of the house in their area or city.

Our Service work is focused on intimate rituals, annual fets and public acts of grace. Together with my husband, Houngan Travay, we hold monthly services at our peristyle here in PA. It's a labor of love, but one that we are committed to doing. The Lwa have been very generous with Their gifts and Their blessings and we continue to walk with Them in life.

Our Education work is accomplished via classes, writing, public speaking engagements and one-on-one training here at the houmfort. Our house offers classes throughout the year on Vodou, the Caribbean, Shamanism and other topics of interest, drawn from our 25 years of travel, education in the SOL and our time with Dolores.

I am interested in talking to anyone with an open mind toward Vodou, and welcome any positive person to our home. Mesi Anpil for reading!

Love, Honor and Respect,
Mambo Vye Zo
