Clergy Profile: I've been a ULC minister since 1998 and have only recently within the last couple of years decided to actively do handfastings/civil marriages. I do, do some pre-wedding counseling to make sure the couple know what they're getting into and what they can expect in married life. The decision is still ultimately up to them but, and it hasn't happened yet, if I feel they need some time to work out issues and get to know one another better, I will tell them so and refuse to do the wedding until a mutually agreed upon time for working on the issues has passed.
I've been counseling since I was 15 and consider the type of counseling I do as pastoral. I have taken several classes in psychology including loss and grief. I am, when able (financially) pursuing a BA and MA degrees in counseling with a specific focus to the GLBTQ community as I am a member of that community. I'm also a volunteer expert over on AllExpert.com and have been for many years since the late 1990s. I've answered serious questions and I've answered silly ones. I've answered questions in their cancer section, domestic violence section, sf/fantasy section, gay and lesbian issues section and currently am focusing on transgender/transsexual issues.
I've done several tarot readings over the years and take great pains to make sure that it is the questioner that makes the interpretations, not I.
I'm considered by several friends as not only their friend but their high priest. They know I'm strongly ethical and believe in confidentiality as long as what they tell me has nothing to do with hurting themselves or others.
Rates: It depends on the ability of the people involved. For handfastings I ask for something that represents their relationship. Monetary payment is donation basis. Monetary is required for counseling or tarot reading - based on income & ability to pay.
