When? July 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th, 2013
Where? Bright Angel Regional Park (South of Duncan)
Who? Pagans and Pagan-Friendly Folk
What? Check out our schedule of events
Why? Do we really need a reason to gather in the woods under the stars on a warm summer night to laugh, chant, drum, eat, swim in the river and to do all the fine things we Pagans love to do?!
Pagans On The Rock Campout is organised by members of the Pagan community as an affordable, family friendly, weekend long Pagan community campout. It’s a place where we can gather together for a relaxing weekend in the welcoming environment of like minded people.
The campout is set up to be as affordable and accessible to as many people as possible. Our fee structure is set up so that we break even with expenses at approximately 30 adult attendees. If we pass that mark any funds raised will go towards the start up costs for Nanaimo Pagan Pride Day.
Bright Angel Park is a CVRD regional park located 15 minutes south of Duncan on Vancouver Island. The park and campground are surrounded by beautiful rainforest and have a network of trails that wind through the woods and along the banks of the Koksilah River.
The Bright Angel group campground is surrounded by forest and is barely visible from outside the grounds. The site has a large picnic shelter that is equipped with a open circular fireplace so even if it rains everyone can stay warm and dry.
The park is open to the public during the day, but after hours the gates are closed and locked providing privacy and an ample buffer for singing, drumming, etc.
The campsite, itself, has no on-site water, however a kitchen sink connected to a water tank with running hot water will be provided for everyone’s dishwashing/hand washing convince.
A tap is available at the caretaker shed at the entrance to the grounds, so please bring a container you can fill for drinking water.
This is a bring your own food and supplies event! however, as many folks will likely have cooking appliances, there is no need for everyone to bring a camp stove, but please remember to bring your own lawn chair!
Dinner on Friday and Saturday will be potluck. (Please visit our Facebook group for more discussion about the potluck.)
A temple dedicated to the Aphrodite and Pan will be set up and available after the first evening. The temple is a tradition that can be found at most Pagan gatherings and is a place where adults may worship the gods in whatever way they see fit. The temple space is set up away from the main tenting area to provide privacy and ensure that surrounding campers are not disturbed. This is the only non kid friendly area of the event.
