More info about Pub Moot as clipped from a Yahoo goup post...

Greetings All,

Wow - Monday is Pub Moot Night once again. Maybe it's the Spring air or all the water that is around, but I have been feeling a bit nostalgic about the Moot and thought maybe I should write some of this down. New members to the Moot might not realize the history and intent of the Moot....it is kinda fun & interesting!

The Pub Moot started unofficially back in the summer of 2006 when a group of pagans who were all working on the "Worker Bees" volunteer group for Gaia Gathering would go to the King's Head Pub every second Monday to socialize after our meetings. Gaia Gathering is the national pagan conference held in a different Canadian city every year over the May long weekend. We did this bi-weekly meeting followed by a trip to the pub every two weeks for 10 months or so leading up to the conference.

When the conference was over we realized that we really needed to keep the fun of the pub going and include more people. At this point Anwynn volunteered to set up this e-group and send the word out. Now here we are, a year and a half later, enjoying pints and the delicious food at the King's Head on the third Monday of every month.

The Pub Moot has no governing body, no board, and no organizers. We do have a core of regulars, frequent new faces and a damn fine bartender! We meet at the Kings Head and welcome all interested pagan and pagan-minded folk. Unlike some moots in bigger cities (there are some great pagan pub moots in Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary to name a few) this moot has no set "rules" or agenda. We just get together to share food & drink with like minded folk. Really, thats it. The side effect of meeting like this is that you can meet and network with other pagans and form relationships that can help you along your path. Pull up a chair, introduce yourself, try the hot wings, get Frances to pull you a lovely pint and relax! Join in the conversation and meet some new folks!

We usually get going at 7:00, but the keeners usually get there a wee bit early and order dinner. The Kings Head serves all the usual pub grub as well as curry favorites. But really, try the hot wings. And dip your chips in the hot sauce..........mmmmmm.

Cheers and Blessed be, see you Monday!

- Dodie
(who will be the one with the Guinness & silly grin)
