Tony & Alis announces...

The Family Moot

When: Every Other Saturday
Where: Birmingham, England

The Family Moot Hall Green Birmingham

Event Details: The Family Moot Coffee/Walk and Talk Moot occurs biweekly on a Saturday from 2pm onwards in the Mill Cafe (or at Tony and Allis's house in Winter) . The coffee and cakes are inexpensive and the setting is pleasing, set away from the road and nestled in parklands.

Depending on the weather, the mobility of attendees and moot mood, there is the option of going for a walk around the surrounding parklands, including Joys Wood and Moseley Bog.

LATEST UPDATE:

our next 'mill' moot and all those after until the mill re-opens in the spring will start at my house for beverages and a bite to eat (which will be free but all donations towards will be greatly appreciated) and move on from there to moseley bog or other local areas of interest dependant on what attendees decide on the day. (If we go to the bog, non drivers can be taken in our car)

If you would Like to come, please PM Allis, Tony (Yspaddaden) or Kiel by clicking their names then 'personal messages'.

Kiel can be reached by mobile: 07878988779 or by email: admin@pagancentral.org

In the winter months, the mill is closed, an alternative venue is still being discussed.

About the Mill:
The 200-year-old mill at Sarehole is one of only two surviving watermills in Birmingham. The cobbled courtyard and mill pool are a tranquil haven from 21st century life outside, while the buildings and their impressive machinery give a unique insight into the lives of the millers who once inhabited this rural retreat. More than seventy watermills once occupied the riverbanks around Birmingham and there has been one at Sarehole for at least 460 years. Sarehole was first built as a corn-grinding mill but has also been used for rolling sheet metal, grinding blades and wire rolling.

The Mill was once rented to Matthew Boulton before he moved to Handsworth to build his famous Soho Manufactory. The local landscape also provided inspiration for the stories of JRR Tolkien who spent his childhood here.
