Open New Moon Circle - March to October

Open New Moon Monthly Circle
Event Details: Mystical Treasures Emporium hosts an open new moon circle on the Saturday nearest the new moon each month. Please see the facebook page or contact the store for the exact date.
Usually the new moon event occurs on the Saturday closest to the new moon. We had one exception as of March 2011 - the new moon in January 2011 fell on Tuesday ... the closest Saturday was New Years Day so we did new moon on the next Saturday. If you are in doubt please check the Facebook page or call the store.
The open circle provides a safe environment where people can experience group magickal working.
If possible, please bring an appetizer or dessert type dish to share during cakes and ale such as chips, dips, veggie or fruit tray, cakes, cookies, etc.
During the event the following will occur; circle will be cast, discussion of the nights activities, magickal working, cakes and ale, closing of the circle.
The magickal working changes each month. You may call the store to see we will be doing but at times we do not know until the event begins. For instance, the new moon for August 2011 had been planned to be a ceremony honoring and remembering those loved ones who have crossed but we wound up with several members in need of healing so we decided to do a healing cauldron that gathering.
The new moon circles are NOT child friendly. Generally, the youngest we allow to attend is 13 (with the parent present) . Infants, toddlers and young children are not welcome at the event. If you have children please make arrangements for someone to care for them - do not bring them with you and expect them to wait outside or for someone present to watch over them. The store does NOT provide a child care service. Those under 18 who are disruptive will not be allowed back in circle.
**Note: Under 15 MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The parent or guardian does not have to participate in circle if they do not wish. Those who are 16 or 17 may attend the event by themselves ONLY if their parent or guardian comes and speaks to me (the owner of the store) BEFORE the event and signs a waiver. ID will be required. A phone call, email, fax, letter, etc. will NOT be accepted. There are NO exceptions to this rule.
During the cakes and ale portion of the ceremony we use a non-alcoholic beverage. We have people who attend who are recovering alcoholics. Sometimes we have participants under the age of 21. Most often, we will use a sparkling grape juice for the "ale". Even if we have no one attending under the age of 21, we still will use a non-alcoholic "ale".
The new moon circle is NOT performed sky clad (ie, naked) . Wear comfortable clothes.
Generally, the circle is held inside the store unless the weather is nice and everyone agrees to work outside. If the temperature is outside the range of 55 to 75 we will most likely be working inside the store. We do have some attendees that have a great deal of trouble with temperatures outside that range.
Please note, this events begins PROMPTLY at 8:00 pm - show up early. The doors WILL BE LOCKED at 8:00 pm and NO ONE will be admitted until AFTER the cakes and ale ceremony. In other words, plan your schedule accordingly ... allow yourself enough time to arrive BEFORE 8:00 pm. This event does not run on "PST" ... "Pagan Standard Time" or "I will show up when I feel like it." If you show up late do not expect to be allowed into the store/circle. When you are late you are not only disruptive BUT you are also disrespectful to EVERYONE else who showed up on time (thanks to planning and time management) and have other things to do than wait on stragglers to get to an event.
Yes, this has been a problem in the past but no longer. If you are late then you do not get to participate ... doors are locked, phones are unplugged, doorbells are turned off.
You will be asked to set cell phones to vibrate during the circle and working itself and you are asked NOT to answer them during circle. If you feel it is a true absolute emergency call you may leave the circle and move to a different room in the building. Yes people, you can live without a cell phone for 30 minutes to an hour each month. Trust me, I grew up in the age where your house had one or two physical phones at most, no pagers, no cell phones, etc.
It is amazing that I must include the last three paragraphs in a listing but there are people who cannot make it to a scheduled event on time and expect everyone to wait on them for 30 minutes or longer ... and people who think that talking on a cell phone during a circle/magickal working is an appropriate action.
