Iris Firebird announces...

Witch Weed Walks

When: Almost every Sunday
Where: Canoga Park, California

witches pouch of herbal allies

Event Details: Did you ever wish you had a little better knowledge of the herbal allies? Want to be able to ID useful plants in the wild, recognize baneful plants and the ones used for food, medicine and magic?
Come stroll with us on Sunday afternoons and explore the plant world. Southern California is especially magical in many ways from its diverse flora and fauna to its geologic features.
We will discuss ways to connect to the plant, how to gather and preserve plant material, and honoring the plant. Proper plant identification is an essential skill, if you intend to consume, or in any other way, use the plant. We will learn the botanical names, and some of the history behind the names, as well as common names and some of the confusion this can cause.
The Witch Weed Walks are for magic folk of any tradition, and will be a series of moderate hikes at various locations in the West San Fernando Valley. Each walk will be approximately 1 mile round trip.
The greening has begun!!!! here in So Cal, see the plants change as the season progresses. We will continue through May or June, or until it is too hot. We will pick up again in the fall, and explore the change from sprout to seed.

BRING: Comfy walking shoes, hat & or sunblock, lightweight jacket, water, snack (if needed) , notebook and pen, plastic bag, scotch tape, cutting tool (knife or clippers) and binoculars if you have them.
.

RSVP , so I may get an idea of how much printed material to provide.
Blessings, and we'll see you, on the trail and among the green, ... Iris

First walk will be the 15th of Jan. 2012
