Join Raven's Cry for a Roman Winter Solstice
Event Details: Join Raven's Cry Grove in a Roman festival celebration of Saturnalia.
In antiquity, Saturnalia was celebrated as a public banquet, followed by private gift-giving, continual partying, and a carnival atmosphere. Saturn was an agricultural deity who reigned over the world in the Golden Age, when humans enjoyed the spontaneous bounty of the earth without labor in a state of social egalitarianism.
The ritual is jointly presented with Rabbit in the Moon, the Pagan spirituality group of the Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.
WHEN: Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 6:00pm.
PRE-RITUAL DISCUSSION: For anyone who wants to learn about our ritual style and our ADF tradition of Neopagan Druidry, there will be a discussion with our Senior Druid, Mike, at 5:30pm.
WHERE: Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 3327 Old Conejo Road, Newbury Park.
--A donation of $10 is suggested to help cover the cost of providing excellent public rituals!
--After ritual we will enjoy a potluck and fellowship. Raven's Cry Grove supplies washable plates, mugs, and utensils! Please, no alcohol.
--Please feel free to bring personal offerings for the ancestors, nature spirits, and deities. It does not need to be biodegradable, but should be non-toxic if buried or put into water.
--We will be collecting nonperishable food items (canned or dry goods) for a local foodbank. Let us share our blessings with those who hunger while we feast.

Event TIME Details: 5:30pm arrival
Directions: Exit the 101 Freeway at Wendy Drive. From the east, turn left at from the middle lane onto Wendy drive, then turn right onto Old Conejo Road after crossing the 101. From the west, exit onto Old Conejo Road, crossing Wendy Drive. At Ruth Drive, turn right at the signal into the business park. The UU Fellowship is #3327 ahead on the left. There is plenty of parking, and the facility is accessible to all.
