SoulFire Inside is a community drum and dance circle that is built upon the principles of the sacred all night fire circle experience. We are an eclectic bunch of folks that travel the wheel together, seeking to co-create a harmonious rhythmic experience that is strongly interdependent, non-dogmatic and free flowing. We come together to build a temporary Temple of Transmutation, with the hope that these actions will Help to Make the World a Better Place, One Fire At A Time… All are welcome, children, elders and those of us who are in the middle.
At SoulFire Inside there are opportunities to engage in many levels of community play. Whether it be thru collaborative art, drumming, chanting, dancing, shaking a rattle, offering a poem or sharing food and water at the potluck or the food altar, we welcome you whole heartedly to become a part of the SoulFire Comm (on) Unity.
Ways to be in Service are to come early and help with Setting up the Temple (5pm-7pm) and/or stay late to help Take Down the Temple (12-1) . Bring Food for the Potluck (7pm-8pm) and Food Altar and Bring your spirit and your gifts to the circle.
Beginning Drummers and Advanced Drummers sit side by side and help each other stay connected and attentive to each other and to what is happening in the active areas of the dance track. Chanters support one another, so that our song is strong, and Drummers respond by making space for the chant. Hangs, Shruti Boxes, Frame Drums and Singing Bowls transport us to new dimensions of reality and we expand our ability to be grounded in Harmony.
We lift our voices in blessings, banter or belief for the betterment of humanity as we circumambulate (move in circles) around a cauldron filled with candles. We open and close our circles with ceremony, intention, and gratitude. We make room for poetry, chanting, silence and transmutation. We show up to consciously share the sonic space and intentionally support one another in being present with the magic that is available to us.
As we begin our FOURTH season of SoulFire Inside-DC, I see us in the North. For me, the North is a place of The Earth, Contemplation, The Ancestors, Winter, Healing Home. I offer much gratitude to all who have come to serve the visions of SoulFire Inside, and those who have come to play and/or pray, at SFI.
Know that you are invited to dive into authentic personal shamanic experience by following the pulse of the drum. Trust that if you desire it, you WILL deepen your relationship with the spirit of life that shows up whenever a community gathers. All are welcome, children, elders and those of us who are in the middle.
If you are a person seeking an opportunity to deepen your relationship with your self, with spirit, with drumming and dancing or art in action, we are glad you found us!
