Purveyor of fine handmade Jewelry and Handmade Knives and Altar Items. I cut my own stones and make my own settings for the jewelry I sell, I hand forge the knives I sell, and all other items I carry. I believe in letting the steel or copper as it may for the knives and Athames tell me the design they want to be, I use only tool grade O-1, and L-6 for using knives that will hold an edge. The copper I use has been mined here in the US and is smelted here also. I use only US suppliers for my metals, and also the Sterling Silver I use. As for the gems, they come from all over the world. I price my wares well below the major store chains and other Jewelry stores. The Chains I sell come from Italy due to keeping the cost affordable for the consumer.

You Can Do it…And Love it
The Native American flute has been reported to be the third oldest known musical instrument in the world. Native Flutes have been used for different dances and spirit calling ceremonies, powerful prayer ceremonies, courting and love songs.

I will teach a beginning workshop for those just starting or just interested in the Native American flute. The workshop will cover the basics of playing a Native American flute including scales, fingering and special techniques. How to care for your flute, what to look for when buying a flute and a bit of the history will also be discussed. Whether you own a flute or not you can attend.

I was introduced to fluting by a good friend of mine in the fall of 2005. He handed me a flute and showed me how to play it. I was skeptical at best because over the years I had tried repeatedly to be a musician to no avail. When I heard that sound coming from his flute and my flute at the same time, I was hooked. I started playing with the help of DVD and over a short period of time 3 to 4 weeks, the sound became better. I then decided to purchase a flute at a local pow wow and my collection of flutes began. My friend showed me some of his flutes, that were damaged and I asked if I could repair them. That was the start of interest in how flutes are made, by 2007 I was making my own attempts at building flutes. I went to see Kuzin Bruce, Utah Farris and Ray Wood (flute makers) for help and they showed me what I was doing wrong. Today I try to make a flute that is pleasing to both the ear and the eye. I work in a variety of woods both domestic and exotic, mostly reclaimed, that all were something else coffee tables, dressers dining room table legs, trees etc…

This is a very basic workshop that will touch on a lot of different aspects, so please, feel free to ask many questions if more specific information is desired. I love tailoring workshops to meet the specific desires of those attending, and am more than happy to go off topic to answer your questions. I may not have the answer, but I will know where to find it. If you don’t want to ask during the workshop, feel free to approach me after or throughout the festival.

Dancing the Elements
Honoring the five natural elements through dance is a way of getting in touch with Nature and Spirit. It turns our awareness to the life force within and teaches us how to connect to it and to the divine. Dancing the elements will recognize five elements – five powers, energies or qualities of the universe that affect our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. Dancing with the intention of touching various aspects of natural elements brings energy and vigor to our life. It heightens intuition and our ability to balance these energies in our lives. No dance experience is necessary. Wear danceable clothes and bring a hip/coin scarf and a veil if you have one. Live drumming will accompany this workshop.

Qi Gong
The practice of aligning breath, movement, and awareness for exercise, healing, and meditation. With roots in Chinese medicine, martial arts, and philosophy, qigong is traditionally viewed as a practice to balance qi (chi) or intrinsic life energy. Typically a qigong practice involves rhythmic breathing, coordinated with slow stylized repetition of fluid movement, and a calm mindful state. Qigong is now practiced throughout China and worldwide, and is considered by some to be exercise, and by others to be a type of alternative medicine or meditative practice. From a spiritual perspective qigong is believed to help develop human potential and to awaken one to one’s true nature.

Introduction to Bladesmithing

I will be holding a small intro class to bladesmithing a bar of tool steel into a small using knife with integral handle and blade. Participants will learn basic safety and us of Propane Fired Forge of my own construction. I will show how to shape small using knives with Forge, hammer and Anvil. I will explain numerous methods of finishing these knives with either power tools such as a hollow grinder, or flat belt grinder to finish these knives in your own time, including how to finish by hand with files then polishing with polishing wheel. (the most dangerous part of bladesmithing) . The class will be limited to 5 people all over 18 due to legal reasons this class is at your own risk, (using forge you will experience 1500 degree and more temperatures to heat and shape metal) . Everyone needs to provide heavy work gloves (leather) and also Eye protection such as goggles or face shield and if possible work apron, no man made clothing such as nylon only cotton or wool, and closed toe shoes since forging metal send sparks flying. Clothing you dont mind little burns in from sparks, it happens.

Fire performers will enact the tale of the season with the dancers as they provide a beautiful and heartfelt performance expressing their joy at being alive and the return of the Sun. The Community energy builds through out the event and more folks become involved being caught up in the spirit and happiness that the return of the Sun brings.

World Collision…

… is a unique group of very talented musicians that are creating a new genre of music. Living up to their namesake, World Collision fuses the instruments and rhythms from around the world and delivers a powerful new expression of music. As unique as the members, many of the instruments are hand crafted and the vocals deliver melodies that wake the dead and make dancers of the living. Their music blends the world of the drum circle rhythms with the modern grind of Rock and Roll. The Shaman dances and turns the volume all the way up with World Collision!

Didges Christ Superdrum…

Erupting slowly dark and deep.

Vibration transcending time and space,

pooling in some far reaching place of our collective

subconscious mind.

Rhythms swimming through the universe,

recalling a forgotten time.

Where gods and demons walked the earth and used

Alien Technology.

Interdimensional Tribal Music that reaches into your soul from across the universe…….

Ginger Doss…

I’m pretty sure this isn’t the first lifetime I’ve played the piano.

I can’t remember a time when the piano wasn’t central to my life. I started writing music from the moment I could get my fingers to work well enough to play something, anything. I studied classical piano from the age of 6 to 16. Then I entered the High School or Performing Arts in Houston, studied jazz and recieved a degree in instrumental music. I began playing in bands in high school and played in lots of different projects from rock to jazz and in between, all of them original music collaborations. Now I am venturing out solo.

I am very proud to be an indie musician and songwriter. I love the creative control of producing my own music. I have been developing my skills as a recoding engineer for years now and my current plan of releasing three self produced and engineered albums by 2012 is almost realized. The first, titled “This Cocoon”, was released March 27th 2009. It is a more personal reflection of my song writing.

The drumming and drummers this event attracts are second to none. Anywhere. To listen to a drum in a drum circle is one thing, to experience the power of the drum used as a ritual tool is awesome.

Workshops of Community interest happen through out the event.

The Community Mural Project is a traveling Community Mural created by folks at various events.

The Community Sacred Fire is ritually lit on Wednesday and is lovingly maintained the entire event, ashes from previous events are saved and added to each new fire. Only hardwood is used in the sacred fire.

It is very important to mention here that Yule Like It is a Community driven event, The Community makes this event happen, many awesome folks from many different paths, come together and offer their talents, skills and majik to make this event special in so many ways. It is truly a one of a kind experience not to be missed.
