Black Bear Grove, ADF presents...

Samhain Ritual

When: Nov. 7th. 2009
Where: South of Bloomington, Indiana

A Journey to Honor the Ancestors

Event Details: Join the Black Bear Grove on November 7 to celebrate Samhain, the Irish New Year. We will gather at Allen’s Creek SRA at 3pm and briefing will begin at 3:30pm .
We will be honoring the Ancestors as we work with the Irish myth of the adventures of Nera. (You can find this story at http://www.ancienttexts.org/library/celtic/ctexts/nera.html)
Nera will be our gatekeeper, Brigid will be our deity of bardic inspiration. Our working will be a guided meditation to receive a message from a personal Ancestor. This Ancestor can be from your family, your culture, or anyone from the past that inspires you. Feel free to bring items for the altar to honor the Ancestors.
We'll have a potluck social time after the rite ends. We will be outdoors the entire time, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
Please bring an ancestral memento to place on the Ancestor shrine, a seasonal dish/drink to share at potluck, and a canned/non-perishable food item to donate to Hoosier Hills Food Bank. (No one will be turned away for lack of any of these, however.) You may also wish to bring offerings for the gods & spirits, any ritual garb/tools you like, a chair to sit on, drums or other instruments, and a good story to tell round the fire.
Event Location: Allen's Creek SRA on Lake Monroe in South of Bloomington
