Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge presents...

Mandala Dance Circle

When: every week
Where: Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Dance the Goddess!

Event Details: The Mandala Dance Circle begins meeting again at the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge on Sunday, January 18 from 5-6 p.m. Mandala Dance will meet every Sunday. Childcare is provided! The primary dance is based on Tara, a Tibetan Goddess of Wisdom and Compassion. The Tara Mandala Dance was created nearly twenty years ago and is practiced by Tara Circles around the world (for more information on this, check out the website www.taradhatu.org) . In this dance, we purify our minds to recognize our own true nature as beings of wisdom, compassion & power. We also do Dances of Universal Peace, particularly from Buddhist and earth-centered traditions. The group is led by Director of Religious Education Jessica Zebrine Gray, who has been teaching Tara's dances for 12 years. We dance for peace. We dance to share our joys and sorrows. We dance to heal our world. Mandalas are sacred circular patterns, emanating from the center. We dance as individual mandalas and join together in great mandalas. The mandala dances are simple movement meditations which can be done by anyone, regardless of experience, gender or physical capability. Join us to experience the connection of mind, body and spirit as we dance in honor of the sacred. New participants (male and female) are always welcome.
Event Location: 8470 Goodwood Boulevard in Baton Rouge
Event TIME Details: Sundays from 5-6 pm
Directions: From Airline Hwy, turn left on Goodwood Blvd. The church is on the left, just past Tara. Look for the big circle window. We meet in the fellowship hall, to the right of the main walkway.
