Leather-Crafting Workshop

Leather belt, leather BOS, or leather necklace... MAKE IT ALL!
Event Details: Leathercraft is a very verstile medium that can be modified to fit any design style. No experience required. We will be making a small project of your choice. The design can be freeform (cutting and stamping) or stamped to create a positive and negative image.
We will start by practicing on 1 or 2 small necklace size pieces, then move to larger size.
Several project sizes will be available. Please RSVP with desired size so I can get materials ready for class. I can cut more at class but they need to be cased (soaked in water) before they are ready to be worked on which will take a while.

If you have any old leather tools, wood mallets, small piece of marble (like a cutting board) at home please bring them to class. I have some but more is always helpful.
Spend some time thinking about the image you might like. Something with positive and negative spaces would work well (similar to a stencil, celtic knotwork or tribal style tattoo) . After the class when your leather is dry, you can decorate your project with paint, markers, and/or glue on other elements (beads, leaves, etc) . Projects could be made into necklaces, wristbands, bookmarks, altar pieces, framed art (dollar store picture frame with glass removed) , bookcover (glue to front of blank book) , laced into a dreamcatcher, etc. I will have punches available to make holes as need for lacing.
