Sacred Paths Community Center/Temple of Bast [Witchvox Sponsor] announces...

Feast of Bast

When: Nov. 17th. 2012
Where: Springfield, Louisiana

Feast of Bast

Event Details: Please join us for a very special celebration;
The 3rd Annual Celebration and Feast of Bast
There will be ritual, dancing, drumming, feasting, and a bonfire all in her honor. ... Please dress in black, red, or a combination of both and as festive as you like for the occasion. Catlike face painting/face art is acceptable and encouraged. And, please bring a percussion instrument if you have one to share in the celebration. You are welcome to bring an offering for her altar, as well. Catnip of course :) , mint, flowers, milk, honey, perfume are some offerings ideas. Our music and dance will, also, be an offering to her. The ancient Egyptians celebrated her feast day (some say in October, some say in November) with convivial merry making, music, dancing in the streets and drinking with friends - the sort of holiday that you and I would recognise instantly. We choose to celebrate Her night on the night of the **November Full Moon or as close to the November Full Moon as schedules allow.
***unless it is rainy and very wet this ritual will be outside so please dress to keep warm if it is cold, we will have more bonfires set up around ritual site this year if need be***
In days of old, a great week-long festival was held in the holy city of Bubastis, attracting devotees from all over the country to celebrate along the riverbanks and through the city streets. The ancient geographer, Herodotus, wrote of crowds swelling to 700, 000. Sadly, Bast and her feast day are overlooked in modern times but we could perhaps change that! If you can, bring a covered dish to share at the feast.
NOTE:: If you are planning on attending and bringing an offering please consider this....As we head into the winter months our thoughts begin to go towards all the poor cold animals sleeping on concrete floors in animal shelters in and around our parishes. Wont you please consider donating your old blankets, pet beds, dog food, cat food ? If you can't adopt or foster a shelter dog or cat what better way to help. I will collect the donations and bring them to the Tangi Humane Society, who serves both Tangipahoa and Livingston Parishes, for disposition. Thanks and Blessed Be
