Sharynne MacLeod NicMhacha announces...

Workshops in Celtic Shamanism

When: Co-ordinated with Feast Days
Where: Cambridge, Massachusetts

Workshops, Intensives, Classes

Event Details: Workshops, intensives and classes in authentic Celtic shamanic practices and techniques. Instructor has studied and taught Core Shamanism for thirteen years, and has done Celtic Studies at Harvard and presented at a variety of colleges / pagan and holistic venues.
The workshops are based on the understanding that shamanic practices or elements formed an important part of ancient Celtic religion, and that these practices can be understood and accessed through universal shamanic techniques and the serious study of early Celtic religion and mythology, as well as aspects of Celtic folk traditions.
Popular books out today on Celtic religion or Celtic shamanism, while viable in terms of specific practitioners' modern and very personal paths, do not represent accurately (or respectfully) the beliefs of the Celtic peoples, past or present.
In addition, while shamanism is a type of mantic or mystic visionary / trance practice, not all forms of mysticism, meditation or trance work are shamanic in nature.
These workshops utilize a variety of learning methods, including lecture, discussion, shamanic journeying, meditation, ritual and ceremony, chanting, postures and breathwork in order to bring these ancient practices forward along the spiral of time.
Instructor Sharynne MacLeod NicMhacha is a Celtic shaman-priestess, druid, bard and scholar of Scottish, Irish and Welsh ancestry, and a direct descendant of Clan MacLeod, long recorded in ancient tradition to have connections with (and blood of) the Aes Sidhe or Fairy Folk.
She has studied Celtic languages, religion and mythology through Harvard University, and has presented work at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, University College Cork in Ireland, Smith College, the University of Massachusetts, the Harvard Celtic Colloquium and the Harvard Study Group on Ancient Magic and Religion.
Sharynne is a Faculty Member of the Celtic Institute of North America, a professional singer and musician (The Moors, Trouz Bras and Devandaurae) and the author of several books on ancient myth and religion (including 'Queen of the Night: Rediscovering the Celtic Moon Goddeess.')
She has studied for many years under the tutelage of an original student of Michael Harner (Foundation for Shamanic Studies) as well as with Don Martin Pinedo, a reknowned Peruvian shaman who is the spiritual caretaker of Apu Pachatusan, one of the most sacred mountains in Peru. In that tradition, she has been given the Rites of the Pampa Mesayoq (a type of shaman specializing in ceremonies honouring the Earth) .
