All levels of experience welcome! From beginner to more advance, Aimee will get you drumming, learning and growing!
Drop-ins are welcome! These classes are ongoing and feature open enrollment.

Whether you are a serious student or looking to just drum casually with friends this workshop series is for you.
Join Aimee Gelinas of Gaia Roots in this hands-on drumming class which will focus on folkloric and contemporary Afro-Caribbean and West African drumming and percussion. Students will learn hand and instrument technique, an understanding of how drum and percussion patterns fit together, the cultural context of the music and how it relates to the accompanying dances, challenging drum patterns and exercises. Students will learn accompanying songs in many languages with lyric sheets to take home. Traditional instruments such as the Conga, Djembe, Djun Djun, Clave, Bell and Shekere provided and included for use in the class price.
Aimee will be teaching her workshops at AwenTree through the spring, during the summer and in the fall, so be sure to save the dates for all her classes!
About the Instructor: Aimee Gelinas is co-founder of Gaia Roots, an all women drum, dance and vocal performance ensemble. She has been instructing drumming and performing for over 10 years, has studied with masters in Cuba (Havanah and Matanzas) , West Africa (Senegal and Gambia) and the U.S. Aimee is a dynamic, inspiring and inviting educator that will help you access your own rhythmic voice. Event TIME Details: 6-7:20 pm
 Directions: We are located on Cottage St (which is Rt 141) in Easthampton. Rt 141 is easily accessed off of Rt 91 (head west into Easthampton) Coming from Northampton: take Rt 10 into Easthampton Center, bare right in the rotary, take a left onto Union St at the lights, then left onto Cottage St at the lights by the pond. There is plenty of free public parking right in front of the shoppe on the street and right near by in the free public lot.
