CedarLight Grove, ADF INC [Witchvox Sponsor] announces...

Samhain Rite and Feast

When: Oct. 30th. 2004
Where: Baltimore, Maryland

celebrate!

Event Details: Our Samhain High Rite of 2004 will be on October 30th at 5pm. Participants can start gathering no earlier than 3:30pm at CedarLight Center to help prepare and enjoy the center. Please arrive no later than 4:30pm. Times are subject to change, please check before you leave.
Lore of the Season Since Samhain is about honoring our ancestors, attendees are asked (not required) to bring a -framed- photo of an ancestor they would like to honor at this year's Samhain High Rite.
Our focus this year is to honor our ancestors and renew our connection with the divine.
We will be honoring Cernunnos and Morrigan this year. The ritual outline can be found on our forum at http://www.cedarlightgrove.org/forum. You do not have to be a member to see this thread.
Traditional Games! We will be having traditional Samhain games after this year's Rite. We will be having a twist on the old bobbing for apples. You can reach into a tub of floating apples and grab one. Each apple will have a divination symbol (such as a rune) drawn on it. Your first apple is free, each additional apple is $1.00.
This Rite is a DRY RITE Our celebrations are dry, meaning no alcohol permitted except the Waters of Life during ritual. this year the Waters of LIfe will be apple cider. If you prefer water, let the elader of the pre ritual briefing know.
Bring a Dish for the Feast! Bring a dish to share with the Grove after ritual if you wish to participate in the feast. Your dish should serve approximately 6-10 people. Please label whether your dish has meat or not for our vegetarians. It's also a good idea to list the ingredients if available.
We will be having a traditional fall feast of the dead, so bring a dish appropriate for the season. Ideas include: Stews Meat Breads Pies Shelled nuts Dried Fruit Cheeses Ciders
Since we are having a traditional feast, please bring your own feastware, including plate, cup, and utensils. There are cans of sodas and bottled water available at the Grove for 50 cents each. Feel free to contribute beverages to the Grove!
Dress Warmly The High Rite will be done outdoors, and it may be chilly. So be prepared and wear some warm clothes. The suggested colors for this years celebration are black and purple. If you have a chair you'd like to sit in during the High Rite, we suggest bringing that too.
Donations All CedarLight events have a suggested donation of $5 per person. This can be contributed to Dagda's Cauldron either at the Grove, or through our website by using the Dagda's Cauldron link on the left. All donations go towards CedarLight Center bills and upkeep. Our latest project is new porches and railings for CLC.
Children and Pets Children are welcome to all CedarLight events, but must be attended at all times. We have some activities planned, including story telling, mummy wrapping, and a few more. Pets however, are not allowed.
