Asheville's 18th Annual Free Public Witch Ritual

Event Details: Free Halloween night 'adventure weddings' legally officiated by Witches in downtown Asheville, NC! Or get handfasted or renew your vows en masse!
"Love is the Law" is the theme of the 18th Annual Free Samhain Public Witch Ritual this Halloween night on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, starting at 7 p.m.
A spirited demonstration promoting marriage equality versus NC's Amendment One only recognizing hetero married couples, Coven Oldenwilde's High Priestess Lady Passion and High Priest *Diuvei will officiate this broom-jumping rite for folks of any gender or number who wish to declare their love and bond or renew their vows.
Join us at Roger McGuire Green, where we'll dance prior to the ceremony. Speed date in the Merrymeet area: Who knows? Perhaps you'll connect with someone and get handfasted when we perform the mass weddings, handfastings, and vow renewals in front of the Buncombe County Courthouse! Participants may keep the beautiful commemorative ribbon used to bind their wrists as they “tie the knot.”
Sabbat festivities will culminate with a traditional Spiral Dance around the nearby magnolia trees, and a celebratory toast at Pack’s Tavern. The pair will sign any wedding licenses participating couples bring to the ritual.

Why: Spiritual demonstration celebrating diverse unions in response to NC Amendment only recognizing hetero married couples

Who: Family-friendly event open to reverent participants of all ages
Conducted by High Priestess Lady Passion and High Priest *Diuvei, Coven Oldenwilde
Costume: Black, or nuptial finery.
Cost: Free (tax-deductible donations appreciated) ; cash for post-wedding toast
