Nemos Ognios/Grove of the Living Flame (ADF) announces...

Open Beltane Ritual

When: Apr. 27th. 2019
Where: Durham, New Hampshire

Purify from Winter, Enter Summer, Honor the Nature Spirits

Event Details: Celebrate Beltane druid-style! This open ritual, based on old Gaelic folk traditions, is all about getting rid of all the crap we’ve cluttered our lives with since last year’s May Day, especially what’s built up while we’ve stayed inside all winter. We’ll burn tokens of that in the twin fires of Beltane, and walk between them, burning away all our own impurities, making us fit for the outside world. We’ll also be getting in right with the Spirits of the Land, among whom we’ll now be spending a lot more time – in our gardens, in the woods, in our yards, at the beach.

You’ll need to bring a dime, and whatever you want to burn (leftover garden waste, unfinished work, dust bunnies from spring cleaning, etc.) . We have a part of the ritual where each person is allowed (but not required) to make their own offerings to whatever spiritual beings they want. We always have incense, butter, and beans on hand, so last minute offerings are no problem, but if you want to give something special make sure you bring it. Offerings can be physical objects, thrown into the fire or put into our ritual shaft, a poem, a song, a prayer, or anything else you think the recipient would like. Again, not required, but the choice is there.
We’re going to give special attention to Lugh, champion and protector of people. At this beginning of the season of the thunderstorms which will feed the thirsty earth, we’ll be calling on his bright spear to bless us and the land.

Nemos Ognios is a grove of Ár nDráiocht Féin (ADF) , the largest druidic organization in America. Founded by Isaac Bonewits, it’s committed to worshiping the gods, learning about the past and today’s world, and good old-fashioned hospitality.
So naturally they’ll be not just a ritual, but a feast afterwards, with friendly fellowship and conversation. (I’m told I make great cheeseburgers.) Bring some food along, and join in!
