The Sagefire Fellowship announces...

Dumb Supper and First Annual Witches Masked Ball

When: Oct. 29th. 2004
Where: Manchester, New Hampshire

Dumb Supper, Ritual, and Dance

Event Details: Please join the Sagefire Fellowship for its first annual Dumb Supper, Samhain Ritual, and Witches Masked Ball. The evening will begin with a traditional Dumb Supper. We ask that all attendees bring a dish to share, and write up a label for each dish as to its ingredients to accomodate those with food allergies. Once all have gotten their meals, we will commence the meal and ask that there will be no talking during the course of this portion of the evening's events. The Dumb Supper is done to honor the dead, and the reasons for the silence are three fold within the Sagefire Tradition. Firstly, the dead cannot speak aloud, and it gives the spirits of the dead a chance to be present without feeling overwhelmed by the voices of the living. Secondly, it gives those who have the ability to hear the dead a chance to hear without distraction. Finally, it gives everyone a chance to think on those who have passed and reflect how the loved one's life or lives touched them. After the completion of the meal, the second part of the ritual will begin. The tables will be cleared away, and the quarters called as we present our version of the Ritual of Samhain. The Medium will be the Speaker for the Dead, and through her will the voices of the dead be heard. We ask that all those attending join us in the circle. Following the ritual, we will be having the Witches Ball, a time to relax and unwind, and party with other local pagans and pagan-friendly cowans. Please wear a mask and appropriate costume, and join us for the fun. Traditional unmasking will be at midnight and at that point our revels will be ended. Anyone wishing to volunteer will get a price break for the event, and should contact The Sagefire Fellowship for more information before September 30th. Prices for the event is $35 until September 30th, $40 until Oct 20th, and $45 at the door.
